How much does the 2018 Ford Mustang cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 1,897 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2018 Ford Mustang a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Ford Mustang earns a 4.61/5 user rating and an 8.33/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its power, sporty design, and enjoyable driving experience, and they also call out fast acceleration and a smooth ride. The overview frames it as a more sophisticated take on the classic pony car formula, so you get a car that blends everyday usability with a strong performance identity. The convertible version is especially appealing if you want open-air leisure driving.

With 30.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop carefully and find strong value.

Is the 2018 Ford Mustang reliable?

Owners rate it 4.61/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a car that feels fun, stylish, and affordable, while also emphasizing power and an enjoyable driving experience. That combination suggests you can count on the Mustang to deliver the kind of ownership experience buyers expect from a performance car. The expert review also describes it as a more sophisticated take on the pony-car formula, with improved mechanical and technological polish.

Ford’s performance notes reinforce that sense of dependability by highlighting a standard manual gearbox with a twin-disc clutch and dual-mass flywheel for improved clutch modulation, plus an automatic with adaptive shift logic and paddle shifters. The cost-effectiveness notes also mention that the Mustang EcoBoost can be had with a Performance Package for $28,980, which gives you a lower-cost path into the model’s appeal.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the car was maintained well and hasn’t been driven hard without proper care.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Ford Mustang?

At 60.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a close inspection of body panels, paint consistency, and any signs of prior repair. Because this car is often bought for performance, it also makes sense to focus on wear items, brake condition, and how the car was driven and maintained. If you’re considering a convertible or a higher-performance version, pay extra attention to top operation and suspension condition.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin upgrades matter here, because Premium trim adds higher-quality materials, exposed contrast stitching, and aluminum carbon-pattern trim, while the base setup is more basic. The review also notes that leather seats require an upgrade to Premium, so feature gaps are meaningful if you want a more upscale interior.
• Powertrain: You can choose between a turbocharged 4-cylinder EcoBoost engine and a V8 GT, with a manual or 10-speed automatic depending on configuration. The V8 makes 460 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque, while the 10-speed automatic adds adaptive shift logic, a direct downshift function, a skip-shift function, and paddle shifters.
• Safety package: The car includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, a driver monitoring system, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alerts. The lane-keeping assist system can detract from driving enjoyment, but it can be shut off.
• Infotainment: You get Sync 3, a new 12-inch digital instrument cluster, Ford Sync Connect, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot. Track Apps also returns through the infotainment system.
• Fuel efficiency: The GT is rated at 19 miles per gallon in combined driving, and the review notes that the EcoBoost with a Performance Package can be had for $28,980.

Which 2018 Ford Mustang trim should I buy?

The 2018 Ford Mustang is offered in 3 trim levels: EcoBoost, GT, and GT Premium.

Here's the short version:

• EcoBoost: This is the value play if you want the Mustang look and feel without stepping up to V8 pricing. The cost-effectiveness notes point to it as the real value in the lineup, and it still gives you plenty of visual attitude and a fun driving experience.
• GT: This is the choice if you want the full V8 experience, including the stronger performance character that defines the car. It’s the trim that best captures the Mustang’s muscle-car personality.
• GT Premium: This is the best-value trim if you want the more upscale cabin treatment, since Premium adds higher-quality materials, contrast stitching, and the aluminum carbon-pattern trim. It’s the right pick if you want performance and a more polished interior.

The safety package includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, driver monitoring, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alerts.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Ford Mustang?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 30.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,897 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 60.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,242, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Ford Mustang's resale value?

The current average of $22,291 sits slightly above last year's $22,205.

That small increase suggests the market has stayed stable rather than swinging sharply in either direction. For you as a future seller, that kind of pricing pattern is helpful because it points to predictable demand and less risk of a sudden value drop. It also means well-kept examples should remain easier to position competitively when you decide to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.61/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Ford Mustang safe?

The 2018 Ford Mustang earns an Acceptable rating from IIHS for small-overlap frontal-impact protection and Good ratings in other crash-test assessments, while NHTSA gives it a five-star rating for rollover resistance.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The safety suite includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, a driver monitoring system, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alerts. The lane-keeping assist system is the main caveat, since it can detract from driving enjoyment, though you can switch it off.

Should I buy a 2018 Ford Mustang or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 30.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 60.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.61/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2018 update brings substantial mechanical and technological improvements, including a more sophisticated take on the Mustang formula.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of updated tech, improved performance hardware, and stable pricing, the 2018 is the one to target. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can still shop carefully and look for a lower-mileage or better-documented example, but the 2018’s combination of value and capability makes it the primary year to consider.
