Overview

During the 2016 model year, Ferrari introduced its 488 model. Replacing the 458 Italia, it occupies the spot of mid-rear-engined V8-powered track car in the brand’s lineup. For 2018, there aren’t any notable changes.
The 488 is purpose built, and so every detail of its slippery body places form ahead of function. Giant air intakes on the front and sides keep things cool and feed plenty of air to the engine, which sits behind the cabin in traditional fashion. Even the unique door handle was designed to slide through the wind. Inside, the asymmetrical dashboard layout puts all vital controls at hand for the 488’s driver. There’s room for just two, and a small luggage compartment at the front.
Ferrari graces the 488 with a 3.9-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine, capable of 660 horsepower at 8,000 rpm, along with 560 pound-feet of torque. A potent 7-speed F1 dual-clutch automatic transmission sends all that power to the rear wheels. It’s one of the fastest-shifting units on the market, but drivers looking to eke out a bit more fun can do it themselves via the included paddle shifters. Zero-to-sixty takes less than 3 seconds, and the top speed stands at 205 miles per hour. There’s more magic behind the scenes, too. Ferrari’s Side Slip Control 2 (SSC2) system is included, controlling the active dampers and communicating with the traction control and electronic differential to keep the car flat in corners without creating under or oversteer.
The 488 gets the highest grades of leather, suede and metal to outfit its interior, but there’s little in the way of luxury; this is a dedicated performance car. Still, Ferrari offers hundreds of combinations involving wheels, paint color, interior color, seat style, and trim. Keyless start, an LCD-based instrument cluster, power windows, and a push-button transmission setup are all standard. A premium sound system and a telemetry kit are available options.
Ferrari has established the 488 as the ultimate track weapon. With its wind-cheating shape and F1-derived technologies, even a novice driver can unlock plenty of performance while driving it.

This is Ferraris follow up to the biggest advance in performance and reliability when the 458 was released. Now with turbo chargers, the exhaust note is slightly softer but still quintessential Ferrari. With prices coming down on older models and relatively low mileage early 2016-17, now is the time to get good deals just below MSRP. Once you decide between coupe or spyder which can differ by 20-30k, options such gold rake sport seats, front lift, steering wheel with LEDS, sport exhaust, cavalino stitched on the headrest, and bits of carbon fiber are recommended. Clean car fax is a must, and if youre lucky certified pre owned status a bonus. Right now the best value and performance Ferrari for the taking.

Good value. Carbon fiber was abundant on the interior as well as some on exterior. Air inlet slats in Carbon would be nice but not mandatory. Red black with Daytona seats were a plus.

How much does the 2018 Ferrari 488 cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $387,802 |
| Year-Round Low | $263,287 |
| Year-Round High | $400,962 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $263,770 |
| Change vs. Last Year | +47.02% |
Prices are up 47.02% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.
There are 263 listings available, which gives you some room to compare examples before you commit.
Is the 2018 Ferrari 488 a good car?
Yes — the 5/5 user rating points to very strong owner satisfaction.
That kind of feedback suggests you should expect a compelling ownership experience if the car has been maintained well, and 29.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there is still some market opportunity if you shop carefully.
Is the 2018 Ferrari 488 reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the rating itself and more about how well each individual car has been cared for, so condition and maintenance history matter a lot.
What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Ferrari 488?
Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
You should still run a history report on any car you are seriously considering and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection before you make an offer. Focus on overall condition, signs of prior damage, and whether the car has been consistently maintained.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Ferrari 488?
This is still a seller's market, so you should act selectively and be ready to move when a strong listing appears.
- Deal availability: 29.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 263 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices are up 47.02% year-over-year.
- Clean inventory: 92.4% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $263,287, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2018 Ferrari 488's resale value?
The current average of $387,802 sits slightly above last year's $263,770.
That kind of price movement suggests the market has remained strong, which can help support future resale value if you buy well and keep the car in excellent condition. For a future seller, that means presentation, mileage, and documented care will matter even more when it is time to list.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2018 Ferrari 488 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2018 if:
- 29.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
- Price trend: Prices are up 47.02% year-over-year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of market momentum, owner satisfaction, and available inventory, the 2018 is the primary year to target. If you are more price-sensitive, keep a close eye on listings near the low end of the range and compare them carefully against other nearby years before you buy.
