About 2019 Ferrari 488
The Ferrari 488 has continued unchanged since 2015, but 2019 marks the arrival of all-new performance versions. Ferrari offers the 488 as a hardtop coupe, called the Gran Turismo Berlinetta (GTB), and as a retractable soft-top Roadster. Both of them share an attractive body whose every surface, valley, crease, and air intake is as much about function as form. Inside, there’s room for two, and you’ll find it to be a rather spartan car, with controls focused toward the driver. That said, all versions of the 488 include 8.12 cubic feet of cargo space. The 488 includes a twin-turbocharged 3.9-liter V8 that makes 660 horsepower and 561 pound-feet of torque, mounted in the middle of the car. Power goes strictly to the rear wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT) with paddle shifters. With the standard kit, the 488 blazes to 62 mph in just 3 seconds. Expect fuel-economy returns of 16 mpg city, 22 highway, and 18 combined. New for 2019 is the Pista variant, also available in both GTB and Roadster body styles. It features racing livery, carbon-fiber weight savings, and a more powerful engine making 710 hp and 567 lb-ft. The 488 Pista will hit 60 mph in 2.85 seconds. Expect fuel-economy returns of 15 mpg city, 20 highway, and 17 combined. Creature comforts are light on the 488, but keyless access, leather seats, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, power windows and locks, and a dual-LCD instrument cluster with navigation all come standard. Beyond that, you can outfit the 488 with any of a number of exterior paint colors, wheel designs, brake-caliper colors, interior colors, trims, and upholstery designs. The 488 series continues to carry Ferrari’s V8-powered racing heritage and does so while looking drop-dead gorgeous. What’s more, the new Pista versions push that performance to new levels.
