What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Buick Enclave?

At 64.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of bodywork, glass, and alignment clues before you get too focused on trim or options. A test drive should also confirm that the cabin electronics, cameras, and driver-assistance features work as expected, since those are part of the Enclave’s appeal. Pay close attention to visibility and braking feel, because those are the areas where you’ll want the cleanest, best-maintained example.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base trim gives you standard LEDs, remote engine start, 3-zone automatic climate control, and rear parking sensors, while the Essence adds blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alerts, an optional top-down camera, standard leather, and available AWD and towing equipment. The Premium trim adds front parking sensors, a Bose stereo, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, power-folding third-row seating, and more advanced safety tech, while the Avenir adds 20-inch alloys, an enhanced driver-info screen, rear camera display in the mirror, standard navigation, sunroof, and top-down camera.
• Powertrain: A 3.6-liter V6 with 302 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque is paired with a 9-speed transmission. FWD is quicker, while AWD slows acceleration a bit but remains strong for a large three-row crossover. The base trim is FWD only, the Essence offers an open-differential AWD system, and the Premier and Avenir use a twin-clutch AWD system.
• Safety package: The base trim includes rear parking sensors, while the Essence adds blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alerts and an optional top-down camera. The Premium trim adds low-speed forward-collision mitigation with pedestrian detection plus lane-departure warning and intervention. The Avenir includes standard navigation and a top-down camera, and it also opens the door to adaptive cruise with auto brake and adaptive suspension.
• Infotainment: You get an 8-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, 4G LTE, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and six USB ports, including four for rear passengers. Navigation is not standard until the Avenir, and the Avenir also adds the enhanced driver-info screen.
• Fuel efficiency: The Enclave adds 2-3 mpg in 2018 depending on trim and configuration, and the Premium AWD test vehicle returned 17 mpg city, 25 highway, and 20 combined.

Which 2018 Buick Enclave trim should I buy?

The 2018 Buick Enclave is offered in 4 trim levels: Base, Essence, Premium, Avenir.

Here's the short version:

• Base: This is the entry point, and it already gives you a lot of everyday value with LEDs, remote start, 3-zone climate control, rear parking sensors, an 8-inch touchscreen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the Enclave’s quiet-cabin experience.
• Essence: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alerts, standard leather, and the option for AWD and towing equipment. If you want the strongest balance of comfort, visibility help, and price, this is the trim to target.
• Premium: This trim brings a more upscale feel with front parking sensors, a Bose stereo, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, power-folding third-row seating, and more advanced safety tech. It suits you if you want a more luxurious daily driver and are willing to pay for it.
• Avenir: This is the top trim and adds the most premium equipment, including 20-inch alloys, standard navigation, a rear camera display in the mirror, a sunroof, and the most advanced available comfort and driver-assistance features. It’s the right pick if you want the most fully equipped Enclave.

The safety-package trim note is simple: the more advanced driver-assistance features are concentrated in the higher trims, so you should compare them carefully if visibility and collision mitigation matter to you.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Buick Enclave?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 32.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,206 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.10% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 64.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $16,017, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Buick Enclave's resale value?

The current average of $16,134 sits slightly below last year's $17,181.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy more confidently now but may also limit short-term upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key takeaway is that well-kept examples should still attract interest, but you’ll want to lean on condition, equipment, and history to stand out. A clean, well-optioned Enclave is more likely to hold buyer attention than one with visible wear or a questionable record.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Buick Enclave safe?

The 2018 Buick Enclave earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, with four-star ratings for rollover and front passenger impact tests.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The higher trims carry the most useful safety equipment, including blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alerts, a top-down camera, low-speed forward-collision mitigation with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning and intervention, and front parking sensors. If safety is a priority, you should pay close attention to trim level because the most helpful driver-assistance features are not spread evenly across the lineup.

One caveat worth noting is that braking performance is a weak point, with the Enclave taking more than 130 feet to stop from 60 mph.

Should I buy a 2018 Buick Enclave or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 32.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 64.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.10% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2018 brings a full redesign with more power, less weight, a quieter cabin, and a stronger, more modern feel.

The bottom line: If you want the redesigned Enclave with strong comfort, good tech, and a softer used-market price, the 2018 is the one to focus on. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can still shop carefully and look for a clean, well-maintained example with the features you care about most.
