The owner feedback points to a generally dependable ownership experience, with praise for the Stelvio’s strong performance and luxury feel alongside comments about some quirks. The expert review also frames it as a vehicle with character and quirks rather than a polished mainstream SUV, which is useful context if you want something distinctive and can live with a few rough edges. The ownership risk for used buyers is that the same quirks that make it appealing can also show up as frustration over time, so condition and maintenance history matter.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio?

At 69.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with a long option list. Focus on signs of prior bodywork, uneven panel gaps, warning lights, and any evidence that the infotainment or driver-assistance systems have been troublesome. Because this SUV’s appeal is tied closely to its driving feel and premium presentation, condition matters as much as mileage.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Base trim comes with 18-inch wheels, LED daytime running lights, rain-sensing wipers, aluminum roof rails, leather seating, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, USB ports, and Bluetooth connectivity. The Ti adds more color choices, upgraded 19-inch aluminum wheels, satin aluminum doorsill panels, a year of complimentary satellite radio, a larger 8.8-inch infotainment screen, and dark wood interior accents.
• Powertrain: A turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-4 makes 280 horsepower and 306 pound-feet of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic and standard all-wheel drive. The drive-mode system is designed to balance performance and efficiency, and the fuel-economy figure is 22 mpg city, 28 highway, 24 combined.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes front and side impact airbags, a reversing camera, tire-pressure monitoring, and traction control. Available driver assistance includes forward-collision warning, collision avoidance, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-departure warning.
• Infotainment: The system uses a non-touchscreen setup with a center-console controller, and the Ti trim adds an 8.8-inch screen. Early models do not have Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
• Fuel efficiency: The Stelvio is rated at 22 mpg city, 28 highway, and 24 combined.

Which 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio trim should I buy?

The 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio is offered in 2 trim levels: Base and Ti.

Here's the short version:

• Base: This is the value-oriented choice if you want the Stelvio’s core performance and style at the lowest entry price. You still get leather seating, Bluetooth, USB ports, rain-sensing wipers, LED daytime running lights, and standard AWD, but you also live with the smaller feature set and the same frustrating infotainment setup.
• Ti: This is the better all-around pick if you want the Stelvio to feel more upscale. The larger 8.8-inch screen, dark wood trim, satin aluminum doorsills, upgraded wheels, and extra color choices make it the more appealing trim for most shoppers, especially if you care about cabin presentation.

For safety-minded shoppers, note that forward-collision warning, collision avoidance, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-departure warning are available rather than standard.

• Deal availability: 31.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 357 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.89% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $13,480, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio's resale value?

The current average of $13,480 sits slightly below last year's $15,474.

That decline suggests the Stelvio has become more affordable for used buyers, but it also means sellers may need to price competitively to move a car quickly. If you’re planning to sell later, the current trend points to a market that is still adjusting downward, so condition, mileage, and equipment will matter a lot when you set your asking price. Well-kept examples should still attract interest from buyers who want the Stelvio’s style and driving character.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.71/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio safe?

The 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio does not have a crash-test rating cited in the source material.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes front and side impact airbags, a reversing camera, a tire-pressure monitoring system, and traction control. Available driver-assistance features include forward-collision warning, collision avoidance, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-departure warning. One caveat to keep in mind is that the safety-alert beeps are described as very loud, and the controls to adjust them are buried deep in the menu system.

Should I buy a 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 31.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 69.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.89% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.71/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The expert review highlights a sharp-looking midsize SUV that delivers performance and drives like a sports sedan.

The bottom line: If you want the Stelvio’s strongest mix of style, performance, and current value, the 2018 is the one to target. If you’re especially price-sensitive, focus on the best-maintained examples and be selective about history and condition, because the model’s quirks make a clean, well-kept example more important than chasing the cheapest listing.
