Is the 2017 Volvo XC90 a good car?

Yes — the 4.8/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the safety features, spacious interior, and upscale materials, and many also highlight the build quality. That fits well if you want a luxury midsize SUV with three-row practicality and a premium feel. With 36.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive offer.

Is the 2017 Volvo XC90 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The review summary points to a dependable ownership experience, with owners describing the XC90 as well built, trouble-free, and strong on long-term satisfaction. That kind of feedback matters if you want a used luxury SUV you can count on for family duty. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that European luxury ownership can bring higher maintenance costs, so condition and service history matter.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Volvo XC90?

At 69.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Put inspection priority on bodywork, structural signs of repair, and any mismatch between the seller’s description and the vehicle’s condition. Because this is a premium three-row SUV, you should also focus on overall maintenance records and interior wear.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Volvo XC90?

This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.

• Deal availability: 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

If you find a listing below $15,370, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Volvo XC90's resale value?

The current average of $15,370 sits slightly below last year's $17,894.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and documentation rather than just model-year appeal. Well-kept examples should still draw interest because the XC90’s premium image and family-friendly layout remain attractive to used buyers.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Volvo XC90 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 69.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.11% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $13,851, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $15,370 average.
• The 2016 offers an all-new XC90 with flexible seating and strong safety focus.

The bottom line: If you want the better-balanced buy, the 2017 is the stronger primary path because it combines a lower current price, strong owner satisfaction, and a broad set of listings to compare. If your top priority is spending less upfront, the 2016 is the better secondary path, especially if you find one with a clean history and solid maintenance records.
