The is a practical vehicle that will deliver reliable and efficient use. I appreciate that it does not have a lot of luxury options that run a higher risk of malfunction or high maintenance costs. The amenities it does have are meaningful and add to the driving experience. This vehicle has clean lines both inside and out which makes cleaning and maintaining this vehicle much more efficient.

Terrific car. It has all the bells and whistles we need. Road noise is bothersome but easily dealt with with some sound insulation. Mileage is great. More room inside than the outside would indicate. Wish they still made them.!

Is the 2017 Toyota Prius v a good car?
Yes — the 2017 Toyota Prius v earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its reliability, spacious interior, and impressive fuel economy, and they also note that it comes well-equipped. That makes it a strong fit if you want a practical hybrid with room for everyday use and a focus on efficiency rather than flash. With 33.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2017 Toyota Prius v reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
Owner feedback repeatedly highlights its reliability, and shoppers also describe it as dependable and practical for everyday use. The combination of strong satisfaction and a reputation for trouble-free ownership makes it appealing if you want a used hybrid you can count on. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is choosing a car with hidden wear or poor maintenance history, so condition matters as much as the badge.
What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Toyota Prius v?
At 54.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage. Then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive or the car has incomplete service records. Focus on overall condition, signs of past repairs, and whether the hybrid system and interior show the kind of wear you would expect for the mileage.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Toyota Prius v?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find value if you compare listings carefully.
- Deal availability: 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 88 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.89% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $15,232, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2017 Toyota Prius v's resale value?
The current average of $15,708 sits slightly below last year's $16,175.
That softer pricing suggests the market has eased, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point today. For a future seller, it also means resale value may depend more on condition, mileage, and documentation than on broad market momentum. Well-kept examples should still attract interest because shoppers in this segment tend to value practicality and efficiency.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2017 Toyota Prius v or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2017 if:
- 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 54.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.89% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2017 if you want a practical hybrid with strong owner approval and a market that still offers some deal opportunities. If you are especially price-sensitive, keep comparing nearby years and individual listings, but make condition and history your top filters before you decide.
