Overview

For 2015, Toyota’s Prius v hybrid wagon gets a new, more distinctive look, a brand new trim, and some added room in a cabin that’s both practical and appealing, with cargo-carrying capacity remaining an acceptable 67.3 cubic feet. Additionally, this 5-passenger 5-door gas/electric family car also gets some subtle tweaks to standard and available equipment.
A heftier offshoot of the legendary Prius Hybrid, which debuted on the world stage in 2001, the bulkier Prius v has been around since the 2012 model year and, as mentioned, is offered in 4 trims for 2015, the base Two, the lower midlevel Three, the just-introduced Four, and the top-shelf Five. A tweaked front fascia, meanwhile, complemented by new headlight and taillight designs gives this heftier hybrid a more athletic appearance and further distinguishes it from its traditional Prius Hatchback sibling.
Power for this year’s Prius v offerings remains a 1.8-liter hybrid inline 4-cylinder gasoline engine mated with a pair of 60-kilowatt electric motors, while the ubiquitous continuously variable transmission (CVT) again manages a total of 134 hp and 153 lb-ft of torque. The standard 201.6-volt sealed Nickel-Metal hydride battery is recharged via both regenerative braking and by the I4, while a quartet of selectable driving modes, including Normal, Power, Eco, and EV, allows drivers to adjust their cruise to terrain and traffic. As for the good stuff, the 2015 Prius v returns with EPA-estimated mileage numbers of 44 mpg city/40 highway, placing it among the fuel-efficiency leaders in its class.
Standard appearance stuff in lower Prius v trims for 2015 includes 16-inch alloy wheels, heated power-adjustable mirrors, and a rear spoiler, while the capacious cabin offers cloth upholstery, a fold-down front-passenger seatback, reclining rear seats, and full power accessories. Also found inside this world-class wagon are such standard amenities as cruise control, telescoping tilt-wheel steering, climate control, and Bluetooth hands-free calling. Higher trims also throw in a standard rear-view camera and Entune infotainment and voice recognition interfaced with smartphone-connected apps.
Standard entertainment in the base Two trim is offered through a single-CD player boasting 6 speakers and a USB port, while higher trims add standard HD satellite radio to the list.
Also adorning higher trims, including the new Prius v Four, are such standard extras as a power-adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats, and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror. Meanwhile, the flagship Prius v Five trim returns with standard 17-inch alloy wheels and for this year boasts LED headlights.
Options include remote engine start in all trims, while higher trims can be equipped with an available power-opening panoramic moonroof. Furthermore, the Prius v Five variant remains eligible for an Advanced Technology package that offers GPS navigation and a JBL premium audio system with 8 speakers and a 6.1-inch display.
Safety-wise, standard equipment aboard all 2015 Prius v iterations includes Toyota’s Star Safety System featuring 4-wheel antilock brakes (ABS), front side-mounted airbags, front and rear head curtain airbags and daytime running lights, with the high-end Five variant, meantime, sporting standard front fog/driving lights. Finally, optional safety stuff, lineup-wide, includes a VIP Security System, while auto high-beam headlights and lane-departure warnings have been added to the Five trim’s available Advanced Technology package for this year.

Reviewed a 2015 Toyota Prius v on Jul 18, 2024
The Prius V is roomy for driver and passengers. It controls were easy to use. I had a little difficulty seeing the fuel gauge, but other displays were highly visible even set off to the middle of the dash. Driving was smooth and the power mode overcomes any of the models ordinary sluggishness in acceleration.

How much does the 2015 Toyota Prius v cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $14,105 |
| Year-Round Low | $12,183 |
| Year-Round High | $14,162 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $12,558 |
| Change vs. Last Year | +12.32% |
Prices are up 12.32% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.
There are 159 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.
Is the 2015 Toyota Prius v a good car?
Yes — the 5/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. The 2015 Toyota Prius v stands out for improved fuel efficiency, extra performance over earlier versions, and a more modern cabin with better materials, more space, and standard features like a touchscreen infotainment system and Bluetooth. It is especially appealing if you want a practical hybrid with strong efficiency and everyday utility. With 25.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop carefully.
Is the 2015 Toyota Prius v reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The overview points to reliability as a general strength, and it also notes that this generation brought updated mechanicals and a more refined interior. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure maintenance has been consistent, since history matters more when a car has been on the road for years.
What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Toyota Prius v?
At 52.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any reported damage was repaired properly. Put inspection priority on body condition, panel alignment, and signs of past collision work, then make sure the hybrid system and maintenance records look consistent with the car’s age and mileage.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Toyota Prius v?
This is a seller’s market, so you should act selectively and be ready to move when a strong listing appears.
- Deal availability: 25.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 159 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices are up 12.32% year-over-year.
- Clean inventory: 52.8% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $12,183, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2015 Toyota Prius v's resale value?
The current average of $14,105 sits slightly above last year's $12,558.
That upward move suggests the market has been willing to pay more for this model year, which can help support resale value if you buy well and keep the car in good condition. The relatively tight spread between the year-round low and high also suggests pricing has stayed fairly firm. If you maintain the car carefully and keep records, you should be in a better position when it is time to sell.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2015 Toyota Prius v or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2015 if:
- 25.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 52.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices are up 12.32% year-over-year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of efficiency, a more modern cabin, and solid owner satisfaction, the 2015 is the primary year to target. If your priority is stretching your budget, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on whichever one gives you the cleanest history and best asking price, since condition and deal quality matter a lot in this market.
