How much does the 2017 Toyota Prius cost?

Prices are up 1.90% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 485 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2017 Toyota Prius a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Toyota Prius earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to very strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its amazing gas mileage, smooth ride, and great value, and many also like the abundance of features. That makes it a strong fit if you want a dependable daily commuter with hybrid efficiency and a more polished cabin than earlier versions. With 35.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Toyota Prius reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback also points to a reliable, dependable ownership experience, with drivers highlighting the car’s trouble-free feel and strong value for everyday use. That lines up well with a hybrid that many buyers expect to count on for commuting and long-term ownership. For used buyers, the main risk is less about the reputation and more about making sure the specific car has been maintained well enough to avoid costly hybrid-related repairs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Toyota Prius?

At 55.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report on any promising listing and confirm whether the car has been in a collision or had structural repairs. Put inspection priority on body condition, panel alignment, tire wear, and signs of uneven repair quality. Because hybrid components can raise repair costs, it also makes sense to focus on maintenance records and overall mechanical condition before you commit.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Toyota Prius?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 35.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 485 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.90% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 55.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,171, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Toyota Prius's resale value?

The current average of $16,546 sits slightly above last year's $16,237.

That upward move suggests the market is still willing to pay for this model year, which is a positive sign if you plan to sell later. The combination of steady pricing and strong buyer interest can help support value retention, especially when the car has clean history and good maintenance records. If you buy well and keep the car in strong condition, you should have a reasonable path to a solid resale outcome.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Toyota Prius or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 35.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 55.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.90% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $15,213, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $16,546 average.
• It keeps the Prius formula familiar while serving as the fourth-generation starting point.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger overall used-car case, the 2017 is the better primary pick because it combines strong owner satisfaction, solid demand, and a still-reasonable price. If your priority is saving money upfront, the 2016 is the better secondary path, especially if you find one with clean history and good maintenance records.
