How much does the 2017 Toyota Prius cost?

Prices are up 2.24% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 548 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2017 Toyota Prius a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Toyota Prius earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its amazing gas mileage, smooth ride, and great value, and many also like the abundance of features. It fits especially well if you want a dependable used hybrid for daily commuting, with the added appeal of a more polished cabin and useful tech. With 33.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Toyota Prius reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback also points to a reliable, dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with drivers highlighting how well it works for everyday use and commuting. That kind of reputation matters when you’re shopping used, because it suggests the car has earned trust over time rather than just a short-term appeal. For you, the main long-term ownership risk is that hybrid components can raise repair costs if maintenance history is weak.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Toyota Prius?

At 53.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any reported damage was repaired properly. Put inspection priority on body condition, panel alignment, and signs of past collision work, then make sure the hybrid system and overall mechanical condition check out. If a car looks especially clean on paper, verify that the condition matches the listing details before you commit.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Toyota Prius?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 33.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 548 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 2.24% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 53.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,145, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Toyota Prius's resale value?

The current average of $16,526 sits slightly above last year's $16,163.

That upward move suggests the market still values this model year, which can help support resale strength if you buy carefully. If prices continue to hold near the current average, you may have a better chance of preserving value than with a model year that has weaker demand. Strong fuel economy and broad shopper interest also help keep the Prius relevant in the used market.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Toyota Prius or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 33.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 53.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 2.24% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $15,140, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $16,526 average.
• It serves as the Prius’s established hybrid benchmark with a strong reputation.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger all-around used-car case, the 2017 is the better primary pick because it combines strong owner satisfaction, solid demand, and a still-manageable price. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2016 is the better secondary path, especially if you find one in cleaner condition.
