How much does the 2017 Subaru WRX cost?

Prices have softened 3.67% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 565 listings available, which suggests a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2017 Subaru WRX a good car?

Yes — the 4.7/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the WRX for its exciting performance, impressive handling, and all-wheel-drive capability, and they also like its unique styling. For you, that means this model year fits especially well if you want a practical sport compact with rally-bred character and everyday usability. With 30.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a meaningful chance to find a competitive offer.

Is the 2017 Subaru WRX reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback also points to a car that feels dependable in the ways enthusiasts care about most, especially through its all-wheel-drive confidence and enjoyable driving character. The same feedback notes some roughness in the manual shifter and a few comfort compromises, but the overall ownership experience still leans positive. For used buyers, that suggests long-term risk is more about condition and prior use than about the model’s core appeal.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Subaru WRX?

At 55.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, since accident history can affect both value and future ownership confidence. Put a pre-purchase inspection at the top of your checklist, with extra attention on drivetrain behavior, clutch feel if it’s a manual, and signs of hard use. Focus on overall condition and maintenance records, because a performance-oriented car like this can vary a lot from one example to the next.

• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.67% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $15,234, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Subaru WRX's resale value?

The current average of $15,393 sits slightly below last year's $15,980.

That price movement suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy more selectively now but may also temper near-term appreciation if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key is to buy well and keep the car in strong condition, because a lower entry price can help preserve your margin later. Demand should remain supported by the WRX’s enthusiast appeal and practical performance mix.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Subaru WRX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 30.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 55.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.67% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $14,174, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $15,393 average.
• It emphasizes strong performance with everyday usefulness.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2017 if you want the stronger current-market balance of price, inventory, and owner satisfaction. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2016 is the better value-oriented alternative, especially if you find one in excellent condition.
