How much does the 2017 RAM 3500 cost?

Is the 2017 RAM 3500 a good car?

Yes — the 2017 RAM 3500 earns a 4.6/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its strong towing capability, the comfortable ride it offers, and the powerful Cummins diesel engine, while many also like the luxurious features of the Laramie model. If you want a heavy-duty truck that can handle demanding jobs without feeling stripped down, the model’s capability and comfort balance make it a compelling choice. With 31.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 RAM 3500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a truck that many drivers trust for strong towing, a comfortable ride, and a powertrain they value over the long haul. That said, used heavy-duty trucks can carry wear from hard use, so your long-term ownership risk depends heavily on how the specific truck was maintained and driven.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 RAM 3500?

At 65.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can confirm accident records, title status, and service history before you get too far into the process. Put inspection priority on the truck’s overall condition, especially signs of heavy-duty use, because a truck like this may have been worked hard even if it looks clean on paper. Focus on how well the truck has been maintained and whether the condition matches the asking price.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 RAM 3500?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 653 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 65.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $34,012, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 RAM 3500's resale value?

The current average of $34,784 sits slightly above last year's $34,721.

That small increase suggests the market has stayed stable rather than swinging sharply in either direction. For you as a future seller, that kind of pricing pattern can be helpful because it points to predictable demand and less risk of a sudden value drop. If you keep the truck in strong condition and document maintenance well, you should be in a better position to protect your return when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 RAM 3500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 65.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want a heavy-duty truck with strong owner approval, stable pricing, and a broad set of listings to compare, the 2017 is a sensible primary target. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you may also want to compare nearby years to see whether a lower-mileage or better-equipped truck offers a better value for your budget.
