How much does the 2017 RAM 1500 cost?

Prices have softened 9.40% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 6,400 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2017 RAM 1500 a good car?

Yes — the 4.82/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise the comfortable ride, powerful performance, spacious interior, and useful technology, while the model’s broad range of trims and cab-and-bed configurations makes it appealing if you want a full-size pickup that can fit work, family, or everyday driving needs. The market also shows 32.3% of listings as good or great deals, which adds to the appeal if you’re shopping carefully.

Is the 2017 RAM 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.82/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The review summary also points to a truck that owners find comfortable, powerful, and well equipped, with many describing it as dependable in day-to-day use. That kind of feedback suggests you should focus on maintenance history and overall condition, since long-term ownership risk is best managed by choosing a well-kept example.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 RAM 1500?

At 65.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection so you can catch hidden body, frame, or mechanical issues. Pay close attention to signs of wear in the cabin, cargo area, and suspension, since condition can vary widely across used trucks. If a listing looks unusually cheap, make sure the price reflects the truck’s actual history and current condition.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 RAM 1500?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to compare listings and wait for the right truck.

• Deal availability: 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 6,400 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.40% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 65.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $19,018, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 RAM 1500's resale value?

The current average of $19,018 sits slightly below last year's $20,992.

That softer pricing can help you buy more truck for the money now, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited unless you choose a well-kept example. Trucks with clean histories, strong equipment, and broad buyer appeal tend to hold attention better when it’s time to sell. A model with strong owner satisfaction can also stay desirable longer, which helps support resale value.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.82/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 RAM 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 65.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.40% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.82/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $17,474, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $19,018 average.
• It leans into luxury with a premium feel and upscale image.

The bottom line: You should start with the 2017 if you want the stronger current-market balance of price, inventory, and owner satisfaction. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2016 is the better value-oriented alternative, especially if you like its more upscale personality and can live with an older model year.
