Is the 2017 Nissan Rogue a good car?

Generally — the 4.2/5 user rating points to a well-liked used SUV. Drivers consistently praise its great features, smooth ride, and spacious interior, and many also value its fuel economy and overall value for money. For you, that makes it a strong fit if you want a practical compact crossover focused on comfort and everyday usability rather than ruggedness. With 31.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2017 Nissan Rogue reliable?

Owners rate it 4.2/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback also points to a dependable ownership experience for many drivers, with repeated praise for comfort, value, and trouble-free day-to-day use. At the same time, the transmission is a recurring concern, so long-term ownership risk is worth taking seriously when you shop used.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Nissan Rogue?

At 54.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on the transmission, since that is the biggest known concern in this model year. You should also pay close attention to overall condition, maintenance records, and whether the features advertised match the actual vehicle.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Nissan Rogue?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on strong listings.

• Deal availability: 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,603 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.39% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 54.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $11,565, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Nissan Rogue's resale value?

The current average of $11,565 sits slightly below last year's $12,096.

That softer pricing suggests the model has become a bit more buyer-friendly, which can limit upside for a future seller in the near term. If you buy at a competitive price and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you may be better positioned to protect value later. Demand should remain supported by the Rogue’s broad appeal, but the current market still favors shoppers more than sellers.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.2/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Nissan Rogue or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 54.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.39% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.2/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $12,548, the 2018 costs more than the current year's $11,565 average.
• It adds automated driver assists that rival the best from luxury automakers.

The bottom line: You should start with the 2017 if price matters most and you want a roomy, comfortable crossover with strong value. If you can stretch your budget, the 2018 is the better secondary path because its added driver-assist tech may be worth the premium for safety-minded buyers.
