How much does the 2017 Mercedes-Benz G-Class cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 284 listings available, which gives you a meaningful amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2017 Mercedes-Benz G-Class a good car?

Generally — the 4/5 user rating points to a strong ownership experience for this model year. The overview frames it as a vehicle that blends military-rooted toughness with unmistakable luxury and presence, so you’re looking at something that prioritizes character and capability as much as comfort. It also stands out for serious off-road ability and a commanding road presence, which makes it especially appealing if you want a luxury SUV with real personality. With 34.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Mercedes-Benz G-Class reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview says the 2017 G-Class was generally very reliable, but expensive to maintain and repair. That means the core ownership experience can be reassuring, yet the financial side of long-term ownership still matters a lot. For used buyers, the main risk is not just whether the truck runs well today, but whether you’re prepared for higher upkeep over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Mercedes-Benz G-Class?

At 65.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from trucks with past damage or repeated claims. After that, put inspection priority on overall condition, since a vehicle like this can be costly to refresh if it has been neglected. Focus especially on signs of heavy use, uneven wear, and any evidence that the truck’s luxury and off-road hardware have not been maintained carefully.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Mercedes-Benz G-Class?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 284 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 65.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $80,886, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Mercedes-Benz G-Class's resale value?

The current average of $83,820 sits slightly below last year's $84,420.

That small decline suggests the market has been fairly stable rather than volatile, which is helpful if you plan to sell later. A steady price pattern can make it easier to estimate your future trade-in or private-party value. Because the model still has strong appeal and a distinctive identity, well-kept examples should continue to attract attention from buyers who want the G-Class experience.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Mercedes-Benz G-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 65.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the classic G-Class formula with stable pricing and a strong satisfaction signal, the 2017 is a sensible place to focus. If you’re more price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years and prioritize the cleanest, best-documented example rather than chasing a specific badge year.
