What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Lexus GS?

At 56.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report on any candidate you’re serious about and prioritize listings with clean records. A pre-purchase inspection is especially valuable here, since condition can vary even among similarly priced cars. Focus on signs of prior bodywork, uneven wear, and incomplete maintenance documentation.

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently while still acting quickly on the best listings.

• Deal availability: 30.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 175 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.

The current average of $23,790 sits slightly below last year's $23,969.

That suggests the market has been relatively stable, which can help future sellers because it points to predictable pricing rather than sharp depreciation swings. If you buy well and keep the car in strong condition, you may be better positioned when it’s time to sell. A clean history and solid maintenance record should matter more to future shoppers in a market like this.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Lexus GS or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 30.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 56.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
