How much does the 2017 Kia Cadenza cost?

Is the 2017 Kia Cadenza a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Kia Cadenza earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise the luxury feel, strong value for the money, and abundance of features. They also highlight the spacious cabin and safety technologies that make daily driving more comfortable.

That lines up with the overview: you’re looking at a full-size sedan that aims to feel upscale without chasing a luxury badge. It’s a sensible fit if you want comfort, features, and value more than a flashy personality.

With 25.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s enough market softness to give you some negotiating room.

Is the 2017 Kia Cadenza reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a car that feels dependable, with praise centered on its luxury feel, value, and feature content rather than recurring complaints. That kind of response usually suggests a vehicle people feel comfortable living with over time.

The expert review also frames the Cadenza as a car that meets expectations in a full-size sedan, with no major mechanical red flags called out in the driving impressions. Kia’s long warranty and roadside-assistance coverage add another layer of ownership confidence.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about a known durability flaw and more about finding a well-kept example that has been maintained properly.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Kia Cadenza?

At 53.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially on cars with higher mileage or visible cosmetic wear. Pay close attention to signs of prior bodywork, uneven panel gaps, tire wear, and any evidence that the car’s driver-assistance features or electronics have been repaired.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Premium models add a 7-inch display, while Technology and Limited versions get an 8-inch screen, navigation, and a wireless smartphone charger. The Technology and Limited trims also bring the more distinctive concave grille, while the Limited adds the richest cabin presentation with premium Nappa leather and simulated suede details.
• Powertrain: Every Cadenza uses a 290-horsepower, 3.3-liter V6 with an 8-speed automatic and front-wheel drive. The car is tuned for a smooth, reasonably quick, and comfortable driving experience rather than excitement.
• Safety package: The Premium model can be upgraded with blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking-assist sensors. The Technology trim adds forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-change assist, and lane-change prevention.
• Infotainment: Premium models have a 7-inch UVO display, while Technology and Limited models get an 8-inch screen, navigation, wireless smartphone charging, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and UVO eServices.
• Fuel efficiency: The Cadenza is rated at 20 mpg in the city, 28 mpg on the highway, and 23 mpg combined.

Which 2017 Kia Cadenza trim should I buy?

The 2017 Kia Cadenza is offered in 4 trim levels: Premium, Technology, Limited, and Luxury Package.

Here's the short version:

• Premium: This is the entry point, but it still gives you the core Cadenza experience with the V6, heated leather seats, dual-zone climate control, and the standard connected safety and convenience services. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model and are comfortable adding safety tech selectively.
• Technology: This is the best-value trim because it adds the 8-inch screen, navigation, wireless smartphone charging, and the more advanced safety suite with forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-change assist, and lane-change prevention. If you want the strongest mix of features and value, this is the one to target.
• Limited: This is the luxury-leaning choice, with premium Nappa leather, quilt-stitched bolsters, perforated inserts, simulated suede headliner and pillars, and the richest overall cabin presentation. Choose this if you care most about the upscale feel and are willing to pay for it.
• Luxury Package: This is the add-on path for shoppers who want to layer more equipment onto the car’s upscale character, including the panoramic sunroof mentioned in the review.

The Technology trim is the one most buyers should focus on because it adds the most meaningful equipment without pushing you all the way to the top of the range.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Kia Cadenza?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find room to negotiate.

• Deal availability: 25.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 76 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.61% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 53.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $11,303, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Kia Cadenza's resale value?

The current average of $11,453 sits slightly below last year's $12,532.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can be good news if you’re buying now but less favorable if you’re planning to sell soon. If you own one, the softer pricing means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment level.

Well-kept examples with the right trim and a clean history should hold up better than neglected ones, especially because the car’s appeal is tied to comfort, features, and value. A strong service record and desirable equipment can help offset the broader market softness.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2017 Kia Cadenza safe?

The 2017 Kia Cadenza earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The Premium model can be upgraded with blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking-assist sensors. If you want the fuller driver-assistance package, you need the Technology trim, which adds forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-change assist, and lane-change prevention.

One caveat is that crash testing had not been performed on this model at the time of the review, so you should lean more heavily on the available driver-assistance equipment and the condition of the specific car you’re considering.

Should I buy a 2017 Kia Cadenza or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 25.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 53.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.61% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The expert review says there is nothing particularly wrong with the redesigned Cadenza, but it also notes that the car is not especially memorable and competes in a shrinking full-size-sedan segment.

The bottom line: If you want a comfortable, well-equipped full-size sedan with strong owner satisfaction and a softer used-car price, the 2017 is a reasonable buy. If you’re especially price-sensitive, focus on the best-maintained example you can find rather than chasing a specific year-to-year change.
