CarGurus Analysis: 2017 INFINITI QX30
overall

Summary
With 214 currently listed for sale and an average price of $11,658.00, 29.9% of 2017 INFINITI QX30s for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2017 INFINITI QX30 3.67 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8 / 10.
59.3% of 2017 QX30 models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2017 INFINITI QX30 stands out because it was built from an unusual partnership: Mercedes-Benz supplied the GLA-Class platform, and Infiniti used it as the basis for its compact crossover. That makes the QX30 feel like a deliberately different kind of entry in Infiniti’s lineup, especially since it was originally intended to be part of a two-vehicle naming plan before Infiniti combined the hatchback and crossover ideas into one model. The result is a vehicle that is described as a hatchback in denial of being a wagon, yet still plenty fun to drive.
For buyers, the appeal is a mix of style, driving character, and a premium-feeling cabin. Owners generally appreciate the smooth driving experience and attractive design, along with the advanced features and beautiful interior. At the same time, the QX30 is not without compromises: limited trunk space is a common frustration, and some drivers also dislike the manual seat controls and the entertainment setup.

Overall a great car, sporty look and fun to drive. I would have enjoyed it more with a Sunroof but it still a great car.

Nice looking SUV with beautiful interior but trunk is so narrow that you have to put rear seats down to fit a golf bag. That and the run flat tires with no spare tire (to switch to conventional tires down the road) were a deal breaker.

How much does the 2017 INFINITI QX30 cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $11,595 |
| Year-Round Low | $11,408.04 |
| Year-Round High | $13,147.63 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $13,025 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −10.98% |
Prices have softened 10.98% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 221 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.
If you find a listing below $11,408.04, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2017 INFINITI QX30 a good car?
With a 3.67/5 user rating and an 8.00/10 expert rating, the 2017 INFINITI QX30 lands in the appealing-but-compromised zone for used shoppers.
The standout strength is Safety at 10/10.
Owners repeatedly praise the smooth driving experience, attractive design, advanced features, and beautiful interior. That lines up well if you want a premium-feeling compact crossover that leans more toward style and driving character than utility, especially since the QX30 was built as a distinctive entry in Infiniti’s lineup rather than a conventional small SUV.
The market also shows 28.1% of listings as good or great deals, which suggests there are still some worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.
Is the 2017 INFINITI QX30 reliable?
The 2017 INFINITI QX30’s appeal starts with its premium feel and smooth driving character, and owners also describe it as a car they enjoy living with day to day.
User feedback points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with praise for the smooth ride, attractive design, advanced features, and beautiful interior. The expert evaluation also emphasizes that the QX30 drives differently from its Mercedes-borrowed roots might suggest, with strong cornering and a suspension tune that feels more sorted than the related GLA setup.
The available Technology Package adds blind-spot warning, lane-departure warning, high-beam assist, and a surround-view monitor with parking sensors, which can make ownership easier in tight urban use. The available package also includes Intelligent Cruise Control++, which can handle stop-and-go traffic.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright mechanical drama and more about living with a premium compact crossover that has limited practicality and can become expensive if it needs option-package-related repairs.
What should I look for when buying a used 2017 INFINITI QX30?
At 61.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been in any prior collision or shows signs of cosmetic repair. Pay close attention to how the interior, electronics, and driver-assistance features function, since this model’s appeal depends heavily on its premium equipment and overall condition.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The Base trim comes with LED headlights, 18-inch alloy wheels, auto-dimming/heated side mirrors, dual-zone automatic climate control, cloth seats, Bluetooth hands-free calling and streaming audio, 2 USB ports, and a backup camera. The Sport trim adds 19-inch alloy wheels, unique front and rear fascias, upgraded brakes, suspension and exhaust finishers, and Dinamica sport seats and trim. The Premium trim adds leather seating, power/heated front seats, and side mirrors that fold down when in reverse. The Luxury trim adds a Bose 10-speaker audio system, rain-sensing wipers, LED fog lights, and heated windshield washers.
- Powertrain: The turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-4 makes 208 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. Power goes to the front wheels or available all-wheel drive, and the FWD model is rated at 24 mpg city, 33 highway, 27 combined, while the AWD model is rated at 21 mpg city, 30 highway, 25 combined.
- Safety package: The available Technology Package adds blind-spot warning, lane-departure warning, high-beam assist, and a surround-view monitor with parking sensors. It also includes Intelligent Cruise Control++.
- Infotainment: The QX30 uses an older single-screen touchscreen system with a basic center-console controller. It is easy to use, and you can physically touch icons on the screen. The system’s voice-recognition software is a weak point.
- Fuel efficiency: The FWD model is rated at 24 mpg city, 33 highway, 27 combined, and the AWD model is rated at 21 mpg city, 30 highway, 25 combined.
Which 2017 INFINITI QX30 trim should I buy?
The 2017 INFINITI QX30 is offered in 4 trim levels: Base, Luxury, Premium, and Sport.
Here's the short version:
- Base: This is the entry point, but it still gives you LED headlights, 18-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, Bluetooth, 2 USB ports, and a backup camera. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the QX30 and can live without the extra comfort and audio upgrades.
- Luxury: This is the top trim and adds the Bose 10-speaker audio system, rain-sensing wipers, LED fog lights, and heated windshield washers. It suits you if you want the most complete comfort-and-convenience setup.
- Premium: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds leather seating, power/heated front seats, and folding side mirrors in reverse without jumping all the way to the top trim.
- Sport: This trim is FWD-only and adds 19-inch wheels, unique front and rear fascias, upgraded brakes, suspension and exhaust finishers, and Dinamica sport seats and trim. It fits you best if you care more about appearance and a sportier feel than maximum comfort.
The available Technology Package adds blind-spot warning, lane-departure warning, high-beam assist, and a surround-view monitor with parking sensors.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 INFINITI QX30?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop, but the best examples still deserve quick action.
- Deal availability: 28.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 221 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 10.98% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 61.1% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $11,408.04, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2017 INFINITI QX30's resale value?
The current average of $11,595 sits slightly below last year's $13,025.
That decline suggests the QX30 has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help you as a buyer but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price and keep the car in strong condition, you should be better positioned than someone who paid closer to its earlier average. The biggest resale risk is that this is a niche luxury crossover with limited practicality, so condition and trim choice will matter a lot when it is time to sell.
Is the 2017 INFINITI QX30 safe?
It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.
The standard safety equipment includes a full array of front and side-impact airbags, the LATCH child-seat anchoring system, Vehicle Dynamic Control, traction control, and a tire pressure monitoring system.
The available Technology Package adds blind-spot warning, lane-departure warning, high-beam assist, and a surround-view monitor with parking sensors. It also includes Intelligent Cruise Control++, which can manage stop-and-go traffic.
Should I buy a 2017 INFINITI QX30 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2017 if:
- 28.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 61.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 10.98% compared with last year.
- The 2017 stands out for its unusual Mercedes-Benz-based platform, strong expert safety score, and premium-feeling cabin.
The bottom line: If you want the QX30’s distinctive styling, strong safety, and upscale interior at a softened price, the 2017 is the year to target. If you are especially price-sensitive, focus on the best-maintained examples with clean history and the right equipment, since condition and trim will matter more than chasing the cheapest listing.
