That lines up well with the Ridgeline’s role as a truck that feels carlike, especially if you want everyday refinement and versatility more than traditional pickup toughness.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Honda Ridgeline?

At 66.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the truck has been used for hauling or towing. Focus on body condition, signs of repair quality, and whether the truck’s practical features still work as intended.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Ridgeline comes only as a 4-door Crew cab with a 5-foot, 4-inch bed, and the cabin is described as upscale with high-quality materials, soft-touch surfaces, and useful cubbies and trays. Higher trims add more premium touches, including extra noise-canceling insulation, heated power front seats, LED headlamps with LED running lamps, remote start, red ambient lighting, and an 8-speaker 540-watt stereo.
• Powertrain: Every trim uses a 3.5-liter V6 with 280 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque paired with a 6-speed automatic. Front-wheel drive is standard, all-wheel drive is optional, and the AWD system adds torque-vectoring capability plus selectable modes for paved roads, mud, sand, and snow.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision alert, auto-braking, lane-keep assist, and auto high beams. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is available, and LaneWatch is also available, but those features are restricted to top trims.
• Infotainment: The truck uses an 8-inch touchscreen with HondaLink, reconfigurable tiles, Garmin navigation with live traffic and pinch-to-zoom, single-string voice recognition, and available Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
• Fuel efficiency: The FWD version is EPA-rated at 19 mpg city and 26 mpg highway, while AWD versions are rated at 18 mpg city and 25 mpg highway.

Which 2017 Honda Ridgeline trim should I buy?

The 2017 Honda Ridgeline is offered in 7 trim levels: RT, RTS, Sport, RTL, RTL-T, RTL-E, Black Edition.

Here's the short version:

• RT: This is the entry point, and it makes the Ridgeline’s core appeal accessible if you mainly want the carlike ride, V6 power, and Crew cab practicality without paying for extra luxury or tech.
• RTS: This trim adds a step up in equipment while staying closer to the value end of the lineup, making it a sensible choice if you want more comfort and convenience without moving too far up the price ladder.
• Sport: This is the best-value trim if you want a more distinctive look and a stronger feature mix than the base model without jumping into the pricier upper trims.
• RTL: This is the trim to target if you want a more upscale daily driver, since it builds on the Ridgeline’s comfort and practicality with a more premium feel.
• RTL-T: This trim adds more equipment and is a good fit if you want a richer feature set while still staying below the top luxury-oriented versions.
• RTL-E: This is where the Ridgeline becomes especially well equipped, and it is also one of the trims where AWD is standard.
• Black Edition: This is the most fully loaded version, with the darkest styling treatment and the richest equipment list, and AWD is standard here as well.

Honda Sensing is included on the truck, but blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and LaneWatch are restricted to top trims.

The current average of $18,860 sits slightly below last year's $19,996.

That decline suggests the market has become a bit more favorable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you buy well now and keep the truck in good condition, you may be better positioned when it comes time to resell.

Honda also says the body structure is 28 percent more rigid and that the cab is reinforced to help keep a 1,000-pound object in the bed from intruding into the cabin during a frontal collision.

Should I buy a 2017 Honda Ridgeline or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 66.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.68% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.88/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The expert summary highlights the Ridgeline as a carlike pickup that stands apart from traditional trucks.

The bottom line: If you want the Ridgeline’s distinctive blend of comfort, practicality, and truck utility, the 2017 is a strong year to target, especially if you find one with clean history and a price near the lower end of the range. If you’re more price-sensitive, keep shopping listings closely and focus on the best-maintained examples rather than chasing the cheapest truck on the lot.
