What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Genesis G90?

At 58.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with a long option list. Focus on overall condition, signs of prior repair quality, and whether the luxury equipment works as intended.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Premium trim includes automatic high beams that bend with the road, leather seating and dash, wood trim accents, a 22-way power driver’s seat, a 16-way power front passenger seat, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a 7-inch color instrument panel trip computer, a 12.3-inch center navigation/infotainment screen, three-zone automatic climate control, a power rear trunk with hands-free function, auto-close doors, a head-up display, and a Lexicon 17-speaker premium audio system. The Ultimate adds ventilated rear seats, power reclining rear seats, dual rear touchscreens, rear-seat illuminated vanity mirrors, and two extra cylinders under the hood.
• Powertrain: The G90 offers a 3.3-liter turbocharged V6 with 365 horsepower and 376 pound-feet of torque, or a 5.0-liter V8 with 425 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. Power goes through an 8-speed transmission to rear-wheel drive or available all-wheel drive, and the ride is tuned for comfort over sharp handling.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes 9 airbags, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot detection with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, automatic cruise control, and driver-attention alerts. The lane-keeping assist and cruise control combination can help the car feel nearly self-driving on the highway, but you still need to stay engaged.
• Infotainment: The G90 uses a 12.3-inch center navigation/infotainment screen with a rotary controller instead of a touchscreen. It also includes Home and Back buttons, a comprehensive voice-control system, and a surround-view camera that activates in reverse.
• Fuel efficiency: The V6 is rated at 17 mpg city, 24 highway, and 20 combined.

Which 2017 Genesis G90 trim should I buy?

The 2017 Genesis G90 is offered in 2 trim levels: Premium and Ultimate.

Here's the short version:

• Premium: This is the best-value choice if you want the core G90 experience without paying for the top trim. You still get the luxury essentials that define the car, including the large infotainment screen, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a head-up display, auto-close doors, and the Lexicon audio system.
• Ultimate: Choose this if you want the most rear-seat comfort and the most upscale presentation. It adds ventilated rear seats, power reclining rear seats, dual rear touchscreens, and rear-seat illuminated vanity mirrors, along with the V8 engine.

The safety package is standard across the lineup, so you do not need to move up a trim to get the core driver-assistance features.
