How much does the 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 cost?

Prices have softened 9.85% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,218 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 a good car?

Generally — the 4.3/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners commonly praise its power, smooth ride, and comfortable interior, and they also value the range of features and overall value. For you, that makes it a compelling choice if you want a full-size pickup that feels more upscale than purely utilitarian. With 30.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.3/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a truck that many drivers find reliable, dependable, and trouble-free enough to keep for the long term. That said, some owners mention reliability concerns with certain engines, so you should treat condition and maintenance history as especially important. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is ending up with a truck that has been poorly maintained or has engine-specific issues.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 GMC Sierra 1500?

At 64.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, especially if the truck has had body damage or multiple owners. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on mechanical condition, signs of repair quality, and whether the truck has been used hard. Pay close attention to maintenance records, drivetrain behavior, and overall wear so you can separate a clean example from one that only looks good online.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 GMC Sierra 1500?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,218 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.85% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 64.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,562, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 GMC Sierra 1500's resale value?

The current average of $22,562 sits slightly below last year's $25,028.

That decline suggests the truck has become more affordable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may face a softer pricing environment than they would have a year ago. If you buy well and keep the truck in strong condition, you can help protect your exit value later. Trucks with broad appeal and strong owner satisfaction tend to hold buyer interest better than more niche vehicles.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 64.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.85% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $25,942, the 2018 costs more than the current year's $22,562 average.
• It adds standard reversing-camera and infotainment equipment.

The bottom line:
You should start with the 2017 if you want the better value and are willing to shop carefully for condition. If you can stretch your budget and want more standard equipment, the 2018 is the stronger secondary path.
