How much does the 2017 GMC Acadia cost?

There are 1,907 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2017 GMC Acadia a good car?

Yes — the 4.73/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction, and the expert rating is 7.33/10. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Cost effectiveness, and Technology.

Owners consistently praise the smooth ride, spacious interior, and versatile seating, and they also call out the comfort and family-friendly cargo space. That lines up with the Acadia’s updated, smaller redesign and its appeal for families and outdoor-oriented buyers who want a more modern crossover feel.

With 31.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive price if you shop carefully.

Is the 2017 GMC Acadia reliable?

Owners rate it 4.73/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable in daily use, with many drivers describing it as a great value and highlighting comfort that holds up over time. The expert notes also emphasize the Acadia’s well-equipped nature and its broad appeal for family use, which supports the sense that it’s built to be lived with rather than just admired.

You should still pay close attention to maintenance records and how the vehicle has aged, because long-term ownership risk is tied more to individual condition than to the model’s overall reputation.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 GMC Acadia?

At 60.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the equipment and safety features work as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base SL already brings a 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, tri-zone climate control, keyless ignition, heated mirrors, and a Wi-Fi hotspot, while higher trims add features like LED running lights, satellite radio, leather, a Bose stereo, heated second-row seats, and more luxury equipment. The biggest gap at the lower trims is that advanced safety tech is pushed higher up the lineup.
• Powertrain: You get a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder with 193 hp and 188 lb-ft, or a 3.6-liter V6 with 310 hp and 271 lb-ft. The 4-cylinder is efficient but not quick, while the V6 delivers much stronger acceleration and better towing-friendly performance.
• Safety package: Driver Alert 1 adds blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking sensors. Driver Alert II adds lane-keep assist, auto high beams, front parking sensors, and low-speed forward-collision warning with auto braking, while the Denali’s Technology package adds surround-view camera and adaptive cruise with full-speed auto braking. Those systems are not available on the lower trims.
• Infotainment: The Acadia uses a 7-inch touchscreen on lower trims and an 8-inch unit on the Denali, with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a 4G Wi-Fi hotspot. The Denali also adds an upgraded driver display, and the Technology package brings additional camera and cruise-control capability.
• Fuel efficiency: The 2.5-liter FWD setup returns 21 mpg city, 26 highway, and 23 combined, while the AWD V6 is rated at 18 mpg city and 25 highway for 21 combined.

Which 2017 GMC Acadia trim should I buy?

The 2017 GMC Acadia is offered in 6 trim levels: SL, SLE1, SLE2, SLT1, SLT2, Denali.

Here's the short version:

• SL: This is the value entry point if you want the lowest price and still want a well-equipped crossover. You get the 2.5-liter engine, FWD, a 7-inch touchscreen, CarPlay, Android Auto, and a Wi-Fi hotspot, so it covers the basics well.
• SLE1: This trim mainly makes sense if you want AWD and a few convenience upgrades over the SL, including LED running lights and satellite radio. It’s a modest step up rather than a major value leap.
• SLE2: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the V6, heated front seats, a power liftgate, roof rails, remote ignition, and second-row captain’s chairs. It’s the sweet spot if you want the strongest mix of comfort, utility, and power.
• SLT1: Choose this if you want a more premium feel, with leather, an upgraded driver display, power front seats with lumbar, a Bose stereo, and the Driver Alert 1 safety package. It’s a good fit if safety tech and cabin upgrades matter more than price.
• SLT2: This trim is for shoppers who want more luxury and more advanced driver assistance, including heated second-row seats, 20-inch wheels, a trailering package, and Driver Alert II. It’s the right pick if you want the most capability before stepping into Denali territory.
• Denali: This is the top luxury choice, with ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, xenon headlights, a hands-free liftgate, and an available Technology package with surround-view camera and adaptive cruise with full-speed auto braking. Buy this if you want the most upscale Acadia experience.

For safety, the lower trims miss out on the more advanced driver-assistance packages, so you’ll want to step up if those features matter to you.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 GMC Acadia?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,907 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.72% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 60.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,076, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 GMC Acadia's resale value?

The current average of $13,116 sits slightly below last year's $14,692.

That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a better entry point today. For a future seller, that also means resale value will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment level rather than just model-year desirability.

Well-kept examples with desirable trims and clean history should hold up better than average, especially if they present as family-friendly, well-equipped crossovers. Listings with accident history or missing features will likely need sharper pricing to move.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.73/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2017 GMC Acadia safe?

The 2017 GMC Acadia earns five-star frontal crash ratings and four-star ratings in all other NHTSA tests.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes 4-wheel antilock disc brakes, traction and stability control, a full airbag suite, and Teen Driver technology. Higher trims add more advanced driver assistance: Driver Alert 1 brings blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking sensors; Driver Alert II adds lane-keep assist, auto high beams, front parking sensors, and low-speed forward-collision warning with auto braking; and the Denali’s optional Technology package adds surround-view camera and adaptive cruise with full-speed auto braking.

The main caveat is that the more advanced safety tech is not widely available on lower trims, so you may need to shop higher in the lineup if those features matter to you.

Should I buy a 2017 GMC Acadia or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 60.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.72% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.73/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The redesign brought a lighter body, a new 4-cylinder engine, and a more modern platform.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $15,401, the 2018 costs more than the current year's $13,116 average.
• V6 availability expands to more trims.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2017 is the smarter buy because pricing has softened and inventory is healthy. If you’re willing to spend more for broader V6 availability, the 2018 is worth a look, especially if stronger performance matters more than upfront cost.
