How much does the 2017 Ford Edge cost?

Prices have softened 8.37% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,842 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2017 Ford Edge a good car?

Generally — 4.4/5 from owners and 7.5/10 from experts. The model scores 8/10 across Performance, Form and function, and Safety.

Drivers consistently praise its powerful performance, spacious interior, and comfort, and many also like the well-appointed features and smooth ride. The Edge’s practical, family-first setup fits your needs if you want a manageable crossover with seating for five, ample cargo room, and useful storage. It is also positioned as a middle-ground choice between smaller and larger Ford crossovers, which makes it appealing if you want everyday usefulness without moving up to a bigger SUV.

The market also looks reasonably supportive, with 31.5% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2017 Ford Edge reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Drivers describe it as reliable and trouble-free overall, and many say it offers a lot for the price. The expert notes also point to a composed, responsive ride and a vehicle that feels confidence-inspiring in daily use. Ford’s value note adds that the base model is attractively priced, and the lineup’s middle trims improve the ownership experience with more useful features.

Some owners did report engine issues, so a careful used-car inspection matters if you want to reduce long-term ownership risk.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Ford Edge?

At 69.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on body condition, repair quality, and whether the vehicle’s equipment and safety features work as expected. If you’re comparing multiple listings, give extra weight to the ones with cleaner records and better-maintained interiors.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base SE comes with cloth seats, a 4.2-inch screen, and a simpler infotainment setup, while higher trims add more comfort and convenience features. The SEL brings available heated power seats, dual-zone climate control, Sync 3, navigation, remote start, and a hands-free liftgate. The Titanium adds leather-trimmed heated seats, driver’s-seat memory, a 12-speaker Sony audio system, and more upscale equipment. The Sport stands apart with its 2.7-liter engine, adaptive steering, sport-tuned suspension, and 20-inch wheels.
• Powertrain: The lineup starts with a 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder with 245 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque, while the SEL and Titanium can also be had with a 3.5-liter V6 rated at 280 horsepower and 250 lb-ft of torque. The Sport uses a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 with 315 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. A 6-speed automatic is standard across the range, and front-wheel drive is standard on most trims with all-wheel drive optional until the Sport, where AWD is standard.
• Safety package: Available driver-assistance features include lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot warning, cross-traffic alert, forward-collision warning, and a 180-degree front camera with washer. These features are not standard on the base model, so you should check carefully if safety tech matters to you.
• Infotainment: The base system uses Sync with a 4.2-inch color LCD screen and a single USB port. Sync 3 upgrades you to an 8-inch touchscreen with two USB ports, plus Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Navigation is available with the larger system, and premium audio upgrades include 9-speaker and 12-speaker setups.
• Fuel efficiency: The base engine with front-wheel drive is rated at 21 mpg city and 29 mpg highway. The Sport is rated at 17 mpg city and 24 mpg highway.

Which 2017 Ford Edge trim should I buy?

The 2017 Ford Edge is offered in 4 trim levels: SE, SEL, Titanium, Sport.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Edge experience at the lowest price. You get the 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine, the basic Sync system, and the essential family-friendly packaging, but you give up much of the convenience and tech that make the Edge feel more complete. It makes sense if your priority is keeping the purchase price down.
• SEL: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the features that make daily use easier without jumping too far in price. You can get the available V6, heated power seats, dual-zone climate control, Sync 3, navigation, remote start, and a hands-free liftgate. If you want the sweet spot in the lineup, this is the one to focus on.
• Titanium: This is the right choice if you want a more upscale cabin and more standard tech. It adds leather-trimmed heated seats, memory settings, a 12-speaker Sony audio system, and more premium equipment throughout. It suits you best if comfort and features matter more than sticking to the lowest possible price.
• Sport: This is the performance-oriented trim, with the 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6, adaptive steering, sport-tuned suspension, and standard AWD. It is the pick if you want the strongest acceleration and the most distinctive driving character in the lineup.

Safety features such as lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot warning, and forward-collision warning are available on higher trims rather than the base model.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Ford Edge?

The market looks moderately favorable if you’re a selective buyer.

• Deal availability: 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,842 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.37% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 69.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $11,921, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Ford Edge's resale value?

The current average of $11,921 sits slightly below last year's $13,010.

That softer pricing can help you buy more affordably now, but it also means future resale values may stay under pressure if the market remains well supplied. For a future seller, the current trend suggests you should expect a more competitive used market rather than a rising one. Well-kept examples with strong equipment and clean history should still draw interest, especially from shoppers who want a practical midsize crossover.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2017 Ford Edge safe?

The 2017 Ford Edge earns an overall five-star rating from NHTSA and a Good rating from IIHS, though IIHS gives it Acceptable in small front overlap and it is not eligible for Top Safety Pick+.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The Edge offers available lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot warning, forward-collision warning, and a 180-degree front camera with washer. Multiple airbags are standard, and available inflatable rear safety belts add another layer of protection. The main caveat is that some of the more advanced safety technology is reserved for higher trims, so you should verify equipment carefully on any used listing.

Should I buy a 2017 Ford Edge or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 69.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.37% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2017 Edge is a just-right family crossover with ample cargo room, seating for five, and a manageable size.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $10,673, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $11,921 average.
• It pairs a family-friendly shape with a twin-turbocharged V6 and a more ambitious personality.

The bottom line: If you want the better-balanced buy, the 2017 is the stronger all-around choice because it combines a softer price trend, solid owner satisfaction, and broad family usefulness. If your main goal is spending less up front, the 2016 is the better value play, especially if you like its more performance-minded character.
