How much does the 2017 Dodge Durango cost?

There are 1,305 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2017 Dodge Durango a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Dodge Durango earns a 4.56/5 user rating and a 7.17/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Performance, Form and function, and Technology.

Owners consistently praise the powerful V8 engine, stylish design, spacious interior, and smooth ride. That lines up well with the Durango’s use case as a family SUV that can handle daily errands, road trips, and heavier-duty towing without giving up comfort. Good and great deals account for 32.8% of listings, so you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Dodge Durango reliable?

Owners rate it 4.56/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle people feel good about living with over time, especially because it combines strong performance with a spacious cabin and a smooth ride. The expert evaluation also emphasizes confident road manners and solid stopping ability, which supports the sense that it’s built to be dependable in everyday use. The Durango also includes a 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain limited warranty, 3-year/36,000-mile basic limited warranty, and 5 years/60,000 miles of roadside assistance.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that higher-mileage examples may have seen hard use, so condition and maintenance history matter.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Dodge Durango?

At 62.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage or heavily optioned example. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the features you want actually work as intended. Because this SUV can be used for family duty and towing, it’s also smart to check for wear that might come from heavier use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Durango offers four trim levels—SXT, GT, Citadel, and R/T—each with a choice of rear-wheel drive (RWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD). The base SXT is the most basic version, with a 5.0-inch screen, 6-speaker audio, and seating for five, while the GT adds an 8.4-inch screen, power front seats, ParkSense rear park-assist, and a rear backup camera. The Citadel adds ventilated Nappa leather seats, a sunroof, navigation, and an Alpine premium audio system, while the R/T brings the performance-focused setup with HD brakes, performance steering, and a sport suspension. The GT is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds meaningful comfort and safety upgrades without jumping to the highest prices.
• Powertrain: You have your choice of a 3.6-liter V6 or a 5.7-liter Hemi V8 paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. The V6 makes 293 or 295 horsepower and can tow up to 6,200 pounds, while the V8 delivers 360 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque and can tow up to 7,400 pounds. The V8 is the better pick if towing strength matters most, but it comes with higher fuel use.
• Safety package: Every Durango has multiple airbags, electronic stability control, hill-start assist, rain brake support, ready alert breaking, and trailer-sway control. Optional features include adaptive cruise control with stop, advanced brake assist, blind-spot monitoring with cross-path detection, forward-collision warning with active braking, ParkSense rear park assist and rear backup camera, and LaneSense lane-departure warning. Some of the more advanced driver-assistance features are optional rather than standard, so check the exact equipment on any listing.
• Infotainment: The Durango uses FCA’s Uconnect system with either a 5.0-inch or 8.4-inch touchscreen. It includes a standard 6-speaker audio system, SD card slot, USB port, auxiliary jack, and two 12-volt outlets, with available upgrades such as SiriusXM, an Alpine audio system, and BeatsAudio. There is no Apple CarPlay or Android Auto compatibility.
• Fuel efficiency: The V6 AWD is rated 18/25 mpg, and the Hemi V8 is rated 14/22 mpg. The V8 is notably thirsty, so fuel costs should be part of your budget if you plan to drive often or tow regularly.

Which 2017 Dodge Durango trim should I buy?

The 2017 Dodge Durango is offered in 4 trim levels: SXT, GT, Citadel, and R/T.

Here's the short version:

• SXT: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Durango’s core space and utility at the lowest starting price. You get the 3.6-liter V6, three-zone climate control, rear-seat outlets, a 60/40 split-fold second row, and Uconnect with a 5.0-inch screen. It works if you want the Durango’s size and towing ability without paying for extras.
• GT: This is the best-value trim for most buyers because it adds a more useful mix of comfort and convenience features. You get the same V6 with a slight power bump, an 8.4-inch screen, power front seats, optional second-row captain’s chairs, optional third-row seating for up to 7, ParkSense rear park-assist, and a rear backup camera.
• Citadel: This is the luxury-leaning choice if you want more comfort and available V8 power. It adds ventilated Nappa leather seats, a sunroof, navigation, and an Alpine premium audio system, and it can be had with the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 for stronger towing.
• R/T: This is the performance version, and it’s the right pick if you want the most aggressive Durango setup. It comes only with the Hemi V8 and adds HD brakes, performance steering, a sport suspension with a lower ride height, unique Nappa leather interior treatments, and a BeatsAudio premium sound system.

Advanced driver-assistance features remain optional on higher trims, so check each listing carefully if safety tech matters to you.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Dodge Durango?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,305 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.88% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 62.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $14,695, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Dodge Durango's resale value?

The current average of $14,802 sits slightly below last year's $15,897.

That softer pricing suggests the Durango has become more accessible for buyers, but it also means sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you’re planning to sell later, condition and equipment will matter a lot, especially on higher-trim or V8 models that can appeal to a narrower but more motivated audience. Listings with strong presentation and clean history should hold up better than rougher examples.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.56/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2017 Dodge Durango safe?

The 2017 Dodge Durango earns four-star ratings in frontal crash and rollover, and five-star ratings in side crash testing from NHTSA.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Every Durango has multiple airbags, electronic stability control, hill-start assist, rain brake support, ready alert breaking, and trailer-sway control. Optional safety features include adaptive cruise control with stop, advanced brake assist, blind-spot monitoring with cross-path detection, forward-collision warning with active braking, ParkSense rear park assist and rear backup camera, and LaneSense lane-departure warning.

The main caveat is that the crash-test results are not especially strong for a family SUV, so you should pay close attention to the available driver-assistance equipment on any used example you’re considering.

Should I buy a 2017 Dodge Durango or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 62.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.88% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.56/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It balances family space, towing strength, and available V8 power without losing its rugged character.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $13,467, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $14,802 average.
• It adds sportier attitude and useful updates like fresh wheels and a Sport driving mode.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $17,379, the 2018 costs more than the current year's $14,802 average.
• It adds Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and a standard reversing camera.

The bottom line: The 2017 is the right pick if you want a well-rounded Durango with strong owner satisfaction and a softer used-car price. If you’re focused on saving money, the 2016 is the better value play; if you want newer tech, the 2018 is worth the extra cost.
