Used 2016 Dodge Durango for Sale nearJacksonville, FL

How much does the 2016 Dodge Durango cost?

Prices have softened 4.77% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 945 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of used Durangos to compare.

Is the 2016 Dodge Durango a good car?

Yes — it earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 8/10.

The 2016 Durango stands out for rear-wheel drive and serious towing capacity in a market dominated by crossovers, giving you a more truck-like feel than many family-oriented rivals. It also gets updates this year that sharpen its appeal, including fresh wheels, additional exterior colors, and a Sport driving mode that quickens steering and throttle response.

31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Dodge Durango reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Durango’s overall package is aimed at buyers who want utility without giving up a more assertive driving feel or a more individual style. Its standard stop/start feature helps extend the efficiency of the V6, and the expert evaluation also points to the model’s strong towing ability and broad utility as part of its appeal.

The V6’s towing strength and the Durango’s heavier weight mean wear items can matter more over time, so a careful inspection of brakes, tires, and suspension is smart on a used example.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Dodge Durango?

At 60.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with towing use. Focus on body condition, tire wear, brake condition, and signs of hard use, since the Durango’s weight and towing capability can accelerate wear.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base SXT includes 18-inch alloys, heated mirrors, auto headlights, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, keyless ignition and entry, a load-leveling rear suspension, cruise control, 3-row climate controls, fog lamps, and a 5-inch touchscreen, while higher trims add more comfort, tech, and appearance upgrades.
• Powertrain: The standard 3.6-liter V6 makes 290 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque, while the R/T’s 5.7-liter V8 makes 360 hp and 390 lb-ft and is the choice if you want maximum towing strength.
• Safety package: The Safety/Security & Convenience Group adds blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert, auto HID headlights and wipers, a power-adjustable steering wheel, and a cargo cover with net; it is not available for the SXT.
• Infotainment: The Uconnect 8.4 system brings an 8.4-inch touchscreen, voice controls, satellite radio, and emergency telematics, but Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are not included.
• Fuel efficiency: The V6 is rated at 19 mpg city and 26 mpg highway, while the V8 is rated at 14 mpg city and 22 mpg highway.

Which 2016 Dodge Durango trim should I buy?

The 2016 Dodge Durango is offered in 5 trim levels: SXT, Limited, Citadel, R/T, and Police.

Here's the short version:

• SXT: This is the entry point, but it still brings useful standard equipment like 18-inch alloys, heated mirrors, auto headlights, keyless ignition and entry, a load-leveling rear suspension, and a 5-inch touchscreen. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the Durango, but you’ll likely want packages for more safety and tech.
• Limited: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds remote ignition, auto-dimming power-folding mirrors, leather, a power passenger seat, second-row heat, LED running lights, driver memory settings, and more available upgrades. It strikes the best balance of features and price.
• Citadel: This trim leans upscale with more leather, chrome exterior trim, upgraded brakes, 20-inch wheels, front-seat ventilation, an upgraded stereo, and standard sunroof inclusion. It suits you if comfort and appearance matter more than value.
• R/T: This is the performance-oriented choice, with the 5.7-liter V8, sport suspension, performance steering tuning, Nappa leather, and the strongest towing capability. Choose it if you want the most power and don’t mind the fuel-economy tradeoff.
• Police: This trim is named explicitly in the model lineup, but the provided content does not detail its equipment.

The Safety/Security & Convenience Group is a notable gap on the SXT, so if safety tech matters to you, shop higher trims or verify package availability carefully.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Dodge Durango?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage but still need to move quickly on the right listing.

• Deal availability: 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 945 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.77% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 60.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,467, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Dodge Durango's resale value?

The current average of $13,467 sits slightly below last year's $14,141.

That price movement suggests the market has softened, which can help you buy more affordably now but may also limit near-term upside if you plan to resell soon. If you’re a future seller, the current trend means condition, mileage, and trim choice will matter even more when it’s time to list.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2016 Dodge Durango safe?

The 2016 Dodge Durango earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA tests, with five-star side-impact ratings, and independent evaluations achieved top ratings in all tests.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The Durango includes 4-wheel antilock discs, stability control, traction control, trailer sway control, and a full suite of airbags including front side, driver knee, and full-length curtain airbags. The Safety/Security & Convenience Group adds blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert, auto HID headlights and wipers, a power-adjustable steering wheel, and a cargo cover with net, but that package is not available for the SXT.

Should I buy a 2016 Dodge Durango or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 60.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.77% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2016 adds a Sport driving mode, fresh wheels, more exterior colors, and upgraded R/T equipment.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $14,802, the 2017 costs more than the current year's $13,467 average.
• It offers a more family-focused interior with room for up to 7 passengers.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2016 is the stronger buy because pricing has softened and inventory is healthy. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer model year and a slightly more family-oriented presentation, the 2017 is the alternative to compare.
