Used 2017 Chevrolet Trax for Sale nearColumbia, SC

How much does the 2017 Chevrolet Trax cost?

Prices have softened 8.62% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,117 listings available, which gives you a decent amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2017 Chevrolet Trax a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Chevrolet Trax earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 6.33/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 8/10.

Owners consistently praise its great gas mileage, compact size, and useful features, and they also like how well it handles, especially on hills. That lines up with the Trax’s use case as a practical, easy-to-live-with small crossover that was redesigned for 2017 with more modern tech and a fresher look. If you want something efficient, maneuverable, and well equipped for the price, this model year fits that brief well.

The market also shows 30.4% good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2017 Chevrolet Trax reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience centered on practicality, compact size, and strong gas mileage. The expert evaluation also emphasizes that the Trax was updated for 2017 with more modern equipment and improved connectivity, which supports the sense that this is a straightforward, easy-to-live-with vehicle rather than a complicated one.

The cost-effectiveness commentary does note that competitors can offer more power, better ride quality, and more space, so long-term ownership risk is less about major reliability concerns and more about whether the Trax’s compromises will still suit your needs over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Chevrolet Trax?

At 60.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough inspection of bodywork, alignment, and any signs of prior repair quality. Because the Trax is a compact crossover with a practical focus, condition matters a lot: make sure the interior features work properly, the drivetrain feels smooth, and the vehicle hasn’t been neglected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LS trim loses the under-seat storage found in higher trims, and it also misses the more upscale equipment that shows up later in the lineup. The LT adds alloy wheels, projector headlights with LED running and tail lights, cruise control, remote start, heated mirrors, satellite radio, roof rails, upgraded cloth, and a 110-volt outlet. The Premier adds 18-inch alloys, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, full vinyl upholstery, and heated front seats, but it omits the sunroof unless you add it separately.
• Powertrain: Every Trax uses a turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine with 138 hp and 148 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 6-speed transmission. The engine can feel strained during highway passing or hill climbing, and the expert evaluation notes that the LT is the best balance of the three trims.
• Safety package: The Driver Confidence package adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, and parking sensors. The Driver Confidence II package adds forward-collision warning and lane-departure warning. The LS cannot be outfitted with these systems, and the LT can get everything except the forward-collision and lane-departure warning systems.
• Infotainment: Every trim gets Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus a 7-inch touchscreen and an extra standard USB port. The system does not include an available navigation system beyond OnStar.
• Fuel efficiency: The Trax is rated at 25 mpg city and 33 mpg highway, or 28 mpg combined.

Which 2017 Chevrolet Trax trim should I buy?

The 2017 Chevrolet Trax is offered in 3 trim levels: LS, LT, Premier.

Here's the short version:

• LS: This is the least expensive way into the Trax, but it gives up some of the interior storage and feature content that make the higher trims more appealing. It still includes a 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a rear-view camera, and a 4G Wi-Fi hotspot, so it works if you want the basics and plan to keep costs down.
• LT: This is the best-value trim. It adds alloy wheels, projector headlights with LED running and tail lights, cruise control, remote start, heated mirrors, satellite radio, roof rails, upgraded cloth, and a 110-volt outlet, while also opening the door to useful option packages. If you want the strongest mix of equipment and everyday usability, this is the one to target.
• Premier: This is the top trim and brings the most comfort-focused equipment, including 18-inch alloys, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, full vinyl upholstery, and heated front seats. It also makes the more advanced safety package available, but the larger wheels can hurt ride quality, so it makes the most sense if you value features over comfort tuning.

The safety packages are trim-dependent, so check carefully before you buy if you want blind-spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, parking sensors, forward-collision warning, or lane-departure warning.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Chevrolet Trax?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,117 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.62% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 60.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $9,013, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Chevrolet Trax's resale value?

The current average of $9,031 sits slightly below last year's $9,883.

That decline suggests the Trax has become more affordable for buyers, which can make it easier to move later if you price it competitively. For a future seller, the current trend means you should expect value to be shaped more by condition, mileage, and equipment than by broad market appreciation.

Because the model year still has meaningful shopper interest and a decent supply of listings, a clean example with the right trim and features should remain easier to market than one with accident history or missing equipment. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2017 Chevrolet Trax safe?

The 2017 Chevrolet Trax has been awarded top marks from both the government’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the independent Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Every Trax comes with front, front-seat side, front and rear side-curtain, and knee airbags for front-seat occupants. Available driver-assistance equipment includes blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, forward-collision warning, and lane-departure warning, but the LS cannot be outfitted with these systems, and the LT cannot get the forward-collision and lane-departure warning systems.

Should I buy a 2017 Chevrolet Trax or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 60.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.62% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2017 update brings a redesigned exterior and interior, standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an extra USB port, and newly available safety features.

The bottom line: The 2017 Trax makes the most sense if you want the updated styling and tech without paying new-car money, especially if you can find a clean example with the LT trim’s stronger feature mix. If you’re highly price-sensitive, a lower-priced listing can still work, but you should be especially careful about accident history and trim content so you don’t give up too much equipment for the savings.
