Used 2017 Chevrolet Trax for Sale near Alabama

How much does the 2017 Chevrolet Trax cost?

Prices have softened 8.73% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,066 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2017 Chevrolet Trax a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Chevrolet Trax earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 6.33/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 8/10.

Owners consistently praise its great gas mileage, compact size, and useful feature set, and they also like how well it handles, especially on hills. That lines up with the Trax’s role as a practical, easy-to-live-with small crossover rather than a plush one. With its updated look, standard smartphone integration, and added convenience features, it makes the most sense if you want a compact, efficient daily driver. The market also shows 29.5% of listings as good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2017 Chevrolet Trax reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience centered on strong gas mileage, compact size, and everyday practicality. The expert evaluation also frames it as a sensible, easy-to-live-with crossover that’s built around usefulness and efficiency. Chevrolet’s added standard features for 2017 help the Trax feel more complete, which can support confidence in long-term ownership.

For used buyers, the main risk is less about outright durability and more about whether the specific vehicle has been maintained well and equipped the way you want.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Chevrolet Trax?

At 60.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on condition, prior damage, and whether the equipment you want is actually present on the trim you’re considering. Because the Trax was offered with a wide spread of features, it’s worth confirming that the specific vehicle matches the listing and hasn’t been stripped of important convenience or safety equipment.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LS trim gets a 7-inch touchscreen, 4G Wi-Fi hotspot, power lumbar adjust, automatic headlights, a rear-view camera, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but it loses the under-seat storage found on higher trims. The LT adds alloy wheels, projector headlights with LED running and tail lights, cruise control, remote start, heated mirrors, satellite radio, roof rails, upgraded cloth, a 110-volt outlet, and more available packages. The Premier adds 18-inch alloys, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, full vinyl upholstery, and heated front seats, but it omits the sunroof unless you add it back.
• Powertrain: Every Trax uses a turbocharged 1.4-liter 4-cylinder engine with 138 hp and 148 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 6-speed transmission. The engine can feel strained during highway passing and hill climbing, and the performance notes suggest the LT is the best balance of ride and equipment.
• Safety package: The Driver Confidence package adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, and parking sensors. The Driver Confidence II package adds forward-collision warning and lane-departure warning, but it is available only on the Premier. The LS cannot be outfitted with these safety features.
• Infotainment: Every Trax gets Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus an extra standard USB port and a 7-inch touchscreen. The system does not offer built-in navigation beyond OnStar, and compatibility should be checked carefully before you buy.
• Fuel efficiency: The Trax is rated at 25 mpg city, 33 highway, and 28 combined, though real-world results can vary.

Which 2017 Chevrolet Trax trim should I buy?

The 2017 Chevrolet Trax is offered in 3 trim levels: LS, LT, Premier.

Here's the short version:

• LS: This is the value entry point if you want the basics done well. You still get a 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Wi-Fi hotspot, a rear-view camera, and power lumbar adjust, but you give up some of the nicer exterior and interior touches found higher up.
• LT: This is the best-value trim. It adds alloy wheels, projector headlights with LED running and tail lights, cruise control, remote start, heated mirrors, satellite radio, roof rails, upgraded cloth, and a 110-volt outlet, making it the most balanced choice for most shoppers.
• Premier: This is the most feature-rich trim, with 18-inch alloys, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, full vinyl upholstery, and heated front seats. It makes the most sense if you want the top trim’s comfort and appearance upgrades, but you should note that the sunroof is still extra.

The safety package is strongest on the Premier, since that’s the trim that can get the Driver Confidence II package with forward-collision warning and lane-departure warning.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Chevrolet Trax?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 29.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,066 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.73% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 60.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $9,012, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Chevrolet Trax's resale value?

The current average of $9,049 sits slightly below last year's $9,914.

That decline suggests the Trax has become more affordable for buyers, which can make it a tougher vehicle for future sellers to command a premium. If you buy now, you’re entering at a lower price point than last year, which helps limit your upfront cost. For resale, that also means your best protection is choosing a clean, well-equipped example with strong condition and a good history.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2017 Chevrolet Trax safe?

The 2017 Chevrolet Trax has been awarded top marks from both the government’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the independent Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The available safety suite includes blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, and forward-collision warning, plus lane-departure warning on the Premier with the Driver Confidence II package. The LS does not get those advanced safety features, and even the LT cannot get the full set. Every Trax includes front, front-seat side, front and rear side-curtain, and knee airbags for front-seat occupants.

Should I buy a 2017 Chevrolet Trax or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 29.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 60.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.73% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Chevrolet redesigned it inside and out for 2017, adding standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an extra USB port, and newly available safety features.

The bottom line: The 2017 Trax is the right pick if you want the updated styling and tech improvements introduced this year, especially if you value standard smartphone integration and a lower average price than last year. If you’re more price-sensitive, you can still shop carefully and target the lower end of the range, but you should prioritize condition and equipment because accident history is common enough to warrant extra scrutiny.
