Is the 2017 Chevrolet Impala a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Chevrolet Impala earns a 4.8/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its comfort, spacious interior, and stylish design, and many also like the roomy trunk and easy-to-use features. Is the 2017 Chevrolet Impala reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback also points to a dependable ownership experience, with drivers describing the car as comfortable and enjoyable over time. The recurring praise for its roomy cabin and well-liked features suggests it can be a trouble-free choice for buyers who value a long-term, easy-to-live-with sedan. For used-car shoppers, that means your biggest risk is less about the ownership experience itself and more about choosing a well-kept example with a clean history.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Chevrolet Impala?

At 51.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage. After that, prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus your condition check on bodywork, panel alignment, interior wear, and any signs that the car may have been repaired after an accident.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Chevrolet Impala?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop around but still enough price variation to reward patience.

• Deal availability: 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 573 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.33% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $11,664, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Chevrolet Impala's resale value?

The current average of $11,664 sits slightly below last year's $12,725.

That price movement suggests the model has become more affordable for buyers, which can also mean a softer starting point if you sell later. If you buy at the right price and keep the car in strong condition, you may be better positioned to limit depreciation. Demand should remain supported by the Impala's comfort-focused appeal and broad used-market value.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Chevrolet Impala or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 51.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.33% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2017 is a smart choice if you want a roomy, comfortable Impala at a lower used price and you are willing to shop carefully for condition and history. If your priority is simply the lowest possible purchase price, a nearby model year may be worth comparing, but the 2017 stands out as the better balance of value and buyer confidence.
