Drivers describe it as comfortable, dependable, and a car they can count on for everyday use, with the roomy cabin and smooth ride adding to its appeal over time. For used shoppers, that means long-term ownership risk looks manageable, but condition and maintenance history still matter.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Chevrolet Impala?

At 48.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing has incomplete service records or signs of cosmetic repair. Focus your condition check on body panels, alignment, interior wear, and how the car drives, since those details can reveal whether a lower price is actually a good value.

What is the 2017 Chevrolet Impala's resale value?

The current average of $11,642 sits slightly below last year's $12,555.

That kind of price movement suggests the model has softened, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point today. For a future seller, it also means resale value may depend more heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the car is documented. Well-kept examples should hold up better than average, especially if they stand out from the many listings with prior damage or wear.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Chevrolet Impala or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 29.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 48.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.28% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2017 is a good choice if you want a roomy, comfortable full-size sedan and you can find a clean example with strong history and a fair price. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on the best-maintained car rather than the newest badge.
