How much does the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro cost?

Prices are up 1.69% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 1,257 listings available, which suggests a healthy amount of inventory for shoppers to compare.

Is the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro earns a 4.7/5 user rating and an 8.2/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its stunning looks, impressive power, thrilling performance, smooth ride, and advanced technology. The overview also makes clear that this is a car for you if driving excitement matters more than everyday practicality, since space and visibility are not its strong suits.

With 28.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a car that feels dependable in the ways enthusiasts care about most: strong performance, satisfying driving dynamics, and a package that keeps delivering excitement over time. The expert drive notes also emphasize that the Camaro’s performance hardware is built to handle hard use, with cooling and braking upgrades that support repeatable driving.

The cost-effectiveness notes also suggest that the Camaro can deliver serious performance without forcing you into the most expensive alternatives, which helps the ownership equation. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a car this performance-focused may have been driven hard, so condition and maintenance history matter.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Chevrolet Camaro?

At 55.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been modified or tracked. Pay close attention to body condition, tire wear, brake wear, and signs that the car has been used aggressively. Because visibility and cabin space are already known compromises, make sure the specific car you’re considering still fits your needs in daily use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin is described as more restrained than its rival, but with nicer interior materials and a clear focus on driving. The base setup is less about luxury and more about the driving experience, so you should check whether the equipment level matches what you want.
• Powertrain: The performance notes center on a 6.2-liter V8 in the SS 1LE, with a manual transmission and track-focused hardware. The cost-effectiveness notes also reference a 335-horsepower package with a 20 mpg combined estimate.
• Safety package: Teen Driver is standard, and the car also includes a reversing camera. Available driver-assistance features include blind-spot warning with lane-change assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking-assist sensors.
• Infotainment: The Camaro uses an 8-inch touchscreen with MyLink, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and OnStar services. The system also includes a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, and the Performance Data Recorder is available for drivers who want to capture laps or spirited drives.
• Fuel efficiency: The performance notes cite 19 mpg in combined driving for the SS 1LE, while the cost-effectiveness notes cite 20 mpg in combined driving for the 335-horsepower package.

Which 2017 Chevrolet Camaro trim should I buy?

The 2017 Chevrolet Camaro is offered in 1 trim level: SS 1LE.

Here's the short version:

The SS 1LE is the clear choice if you want the Camaro’s most focused performance character. It adds magnetic ride control, upgraded cooling, performance tires, Brembo brakes, and track-oriented hardware that make it far more capable than a basic sporty coupe. It suits you best if you care most about handling, braking, and track-day capability rather than everyday comfort.

The safety package note is simple: the Camaro includes Teen Driver and a reversing camera, while blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking-assist sensors are optional.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Chevrolet Camaro?

This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 28.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,257 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.69% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 55.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,940, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro's resale value?

The current average of $23,457 sits slightly above last year's $23,066.

That upward move suggests the Camaro has held demand well enough to support pricing. For a future seller, that means a clean, well-kept example should remain appealing if it presents the right mix of condition, mileage, and equipment.

The model’s strong enthusiast appeal also helps, since buyers tend to respond to the Camaro’s styling and performance reputation. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro safe?

The 2017 Chevrolet Camaro earns a five-star rating from the federal government, though the IIHS notes Acceptable roof strength rather than Good.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Teen Driver is the key built-in safety feature, and it lets you set driving parameters tied to a specific key fob while also generating a report on how the car was driven. A reversing camera is standard, while blind-spot warning with lane-change assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking-assist sensors are available.

The main caveat is that this is not a car with broad active-safety coverage, so you should not expect automatic braking or automatic steering assistance.

Should I buy a 2017 Chevrolet Camaro or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 28.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 55.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.69% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Expert testing highlights its track-focused performance hardware and standout driving dynamics.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $21,985, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $23,457 average.
• It is a completely redesigned Camaro with updated looks, a better interior, and newer infotainment tech.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger current-market balance of price, demand, and enthusiast appeal, the 2017 is the better default choice. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2016 is the value-minded alternative.

How does the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro compare to the 2017 Ford Mustang?

Our experts score the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro 8.2/10 and the 2017 Ford Mustang 7.8/10. The Camaro brings the stronger expert score and a more performance-focused personality, while the Mustang offers more horsepower in the comparison shown here and a lower average used price. The Camaro also has the better city and highway MPG figures in this matchup, though the Mustang has more listings available.
