How much does the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro cost?

Prices are up 2.77% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 1,254 listings available, which suggests a healthy amount of inventory for shoppers to compare.

Is the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro earns a 4.74/5 user rating and an 8.17/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its stunning looks, impressive power, thrilling performance, smooth ride, and advanced technology. The overview also makes clear that this is a car for drivers who care more about excitement than everyday utility, since space is limited and practicality takes a back seat.

With 31.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro reliable?

Owners rate it 4.74/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a car that people tend to trust for its impressive power, thrilling performance, smooth ride, and advanced technology. The expert drive notes also emphasize that the Camaro’s performance hardware is serious and well-sorted, which supports the sense that it is built to be driven hard with confidence.

The cost-effectiveness notes add that the 1LE package can deliver track-ready performance in a 335-horsepower package with 20 mpg combined, which reinforces the idea that the car can be a durable enthusiast choice when maintained properly.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that this is a high-performance car with a hard life potential, so maintenance history matters more than mileage alone.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Chevrolet Camaro?

At 56% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been modified or driven hard. Focus on body condition, tire wear, brake condition, and signs of track use or poor repair work. Because visibility and practicality are already weak points, you should also make sure the car’s condition matches the seller’s claims before you commit.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SS 1LE adds a matte-finish hood, black exterior accents, Satin Graphite wheels, and a more aggressive look than the standard car.
• Powertrain: The 1LE package is available with a Camaro LS or LT equipped with a V6 engine, or with a Camaro SS equipped with a V8 engine; the test car’s 6.2-liter V8 makes 455 horsepower and 455 pound-feet of torque.
• Safety package: Teen Driver is included, and it lets you set vehicle attributes tied to a key fob and review a driving report; available extras include blind-spot warning with lane-change assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking-assist sensors.
• Infotainment: The Camaro uses an 8-inch touchscreen with MyLink, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and OnStar services; the system also includes a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot.
• Fuel efficiency: The 1LE package should return 20 mpg in combined driving, while the test vehicle averaged 18.6 mpg on the test loop and showed 16.5 mpg over a week of driving.

Which 2017 Chevrolet Camaro trim should I buy?

The 2017 Chevrolet Camaro is offered in 1 trim level: SS 1LE.

Here's the short version:

The SS 1LE is the clear enthusiast choice if you want the Camaro’s most serious track-focused hardware. It adds magnetic ride control, upgraded cooling, staggered-width performance tires, Brembo brakes, and the kind of chassis tuning that makes the car feel far more capable than a standard street coupe. It suits you best if you care most about handling, braking, and high-speed confidence rather than everyday comfort.

The safety package note is simple: Teen Driver is included, while blind-spot warning with lane-change assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking-assist sensors are optional.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Chevrolet Camaro?

This looks like a moderate, selective-buyer market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on a strong listing.

• Deal availability: 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,254 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 2.77% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 56.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,923, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro's resale value?

The current average of $23,841 sits slightly above last year's $23,198.

That upward move suggests the Camaro has held buyer interest well enough to support pricing. For a future seller, that means a clean, well-kept example should still attract attention, especially if it has desirable equipment and a strong service record.

The market also shows that buyers are still willing to pay for this model’s performance image and enthusiast appeal. If you maintain the car carefully and avoid heavy wear, you should be in a better position to preserve value.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.74/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro safe?

The Camaro earns a five-star rating from the federal government for 4-cylinder and V6 models only, and in IIHS testing it gets Acceptable roof strength rather than Good.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The Camaro includes Teen Driver, which lets you tie settings to a key fob and review a report of how the car was driven. A reversing camera is standard, and available driver aids include blind-spot warning with lane-change assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking-assist sensors.

One caveat is that the car does not include automatic emergency braking or automatic steering assistance, so you should not expect the latest active-safety coverage.

Should I buy a 2017 Chevrolet Camaro or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 56% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 2.77% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.74/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2017 stands out for its aggressive personality, strong performance, and track-focused SS 1LE hardware.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $22,500, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $23,841 average.
• It was a completely redesigned Camaro with updated looks, a better interior, and newer infotainment tech.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger enthusiast pick, the 2017 is the better target because it combines strong owner satisfaction, solid market demand, and serious performance credentials. If your priority is saving money, the 2016 is the smarter value play, especially if you want the redesigned Camaro experience for less.
