How much does the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro cost?

Prices are up 1.42% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 1,236 listings available, which suggests you have a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro earns a 4.7/5 user rating and an 8.2/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its stunning looks, impressive power, and thrilling performance, and they also call out the smooth ride and advanced technology. That lines up with the Camaro’s appeal as a car that prioritizes driving excitement and a strong identity over everyday practicality.

The overview also points to a car that feels like a traditional American muscle car while delivering more than that first impression suggests. If you want style, speed, and a car that feels special every time you drive it, this model year fits that brief well.

There are 30.6% good or great deals in the market, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a car that feels dependable in the ways enthusiasts care about most, with praise for its impressive power, thrilling performance, smooth ride, and advanced technology. The expert drive notes also emphasize that the Camaro’s performance hardware is built to deliver serious capability over the long haul.

The cost-effectiveness notes add that the 1LE package can deliver track-ready performance in a relatively affordable package, which supports the idea that the car is engineered to be used hard. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about basic satisfaction and more about whether the car has been driven, maintained, and inspected carefully enough to match its performance-focused life.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Chevrolet Camaro?

At 56.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been modified or driven hard. Focus on condition details that matter most on a performance coupe: tires, brakes, suspension wear, and signs of cosmetic or structural repair.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LS trim starts with a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, while the SS and 1LE setup adds much more aggressive performance hardware and a more focused driving character. The 1LE package also brings a matte-finish hood, black exterior accents, and Satin Graphite wheels, but it is still a car with limited outward visibility and a cabin that is not especially practical.
• Powertrain: The Camaro can be had with a turbocharged 4-cylinder, a V6, or a 6.2-liter V8 in the SS 1LE test vehicle. The 1LE package adds magnetic ride control, reworked suspension hardware, heavy-duty cooling, staggered-width Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar tires, and upgraded Brembo brakes.
• Safety package: The Camaro includes Teen Driver and a reversing camera as standard equipment. Available driver-assistance features include blind-spot warning with lane-change assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking-assist sensors.
• Infotainment: The Camaro uses an 8-inch touchscreen with MyLink, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a Performance Data Recorder. The system is easy to use, and OnStar adds services such as a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot and automatic crash response.
• Fuel efficiency: The 1LE package is described as returning 20 mpg in combined driving in a 335-horsepower configuration, while the SS 1LE test vehicle averaged 18.6 mpg on the test loop and 16.5 mpg over a week of driving.

Which 2017 Chevrolet Camaro trim should I buy?

The 2017 Chevrolet Camaro is offered in 2 trim levels: LS and SS 1LE.

Here's the short version:

• LS: This is the value-oriented starting point, and it gives you the Camaro formula with the turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. It makes the most sense if you want the styling and core driving experience without paying for the more extreme hardware of the 1LE setup.
• SS 1LE: This is the clear choice if you want the most focused performance character in the data. It adds the 6.2-liter V8, magnetic ride control, upgraded cooling, serious brakes, and track-oriented tires, making it the best-value pick for you if performance is the priority.

The safety content notes that the Camaro does not include automatic emergency braking or automatic steering assist, while available driver aids are limited to the options listed above.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Chevrolet Camaro?

This looks like a moderate, selective-buyer market, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay patient and compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 30.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,236 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.42% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 56.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,931, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro's resale value?

The current average of $23,425 sits slightly above last year's $23,097.

That upward move suggests the Camaro has held demand well enough to support pricing, even as shoppers compare it against other performance coupes. If you own one and keep it in strong condition, the market trend gives you a reasonable base for resale planning.

The fact that prices are above last year’s level also suggests buyers are still willing to pay for the Camaro’s style and performance mix. That can help you if your car is clean, well maintained, and equipped in a desirable trim.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro safe?

The Camaro earns a five-star rating from the federal government, and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gives it an Acceptable roof-strength result rather than Good.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The Camaro includes Teen Driver and a reversing camera as standard equipment. Available safety features include blind-spot warning with lane-change assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking-assist sensors.

The main caveat is that it does not offer automatic emergency braking or automatic steering assist, so you should not expect the kind of active safety coverage found in some newer rivals.

Should I buy a 2017 Chevrolet Camaro or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 30.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 56.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.42% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2017 stands out for its strong performance focus and track-ready 1LE hardware.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $21,994, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $23,425 average.
• The 2016 brings a redesigned Camaro with updated looks, a better interior, and newer infotainment tech.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger overall market signal and the year-specific performance appeal, the 2017 is the better target. If your priority is saving money up front, the 2016 is the more budget-friendly path and still gives you the redesigned Camaro experience.

How does the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro compare to the 2017 Ford Mustang?

Our experts score the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro 8.2/10 and the 2017 Ford Mustang 7.8/10.

The Camaro has the stronger expert score and the better performance emphasis, while the Mustang starts at a lower average used price and has more listings available. The Camaro also shows a higher average used price, which fits its stronger performance positioning and slightly tighter inventory. If you care most about driving excitement, the Camaro is the sharper pick; if you want a lower entry price and more shopping volume, the Mustang has the edge.
