How much does the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro cost?

Prices are up 2.20% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 1,284 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro a good car?

Yes — you’re looking at a 4.74/5 user-rated car with an expert rating of 8.17/10. The standout strength is Performance at 10/10. Owners consistently praise the Camaro’s stunning looks, impressive power, thrilling performance, fast acceleration, and handling. The overview also makes clear that this is a car for excitement rather than everyday practicality, so it fits you best if you want style and driving drama more than space. With 30.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro reliable?

Owners rate it 4.74/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The owner summary points to a car people trust for its impressive power, thrilling performance, fast acceleration, and handling, while also highlighting the smooth ride and advanced technology in higher trims. The expert drive notes reinforce that this Camaro is built to be driven hard and can feel composed when you’re pushing it. If you’re buying used, the main long-term ownership risk is that the car’s performance focus comes with practical compromises, so condition and maintenance history matter a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Chevrolet Camaro?

At 56.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been driven hard or modified. Focus on body condition, tire wear, brake wear, and signs that the car has been used aggressively. Because the Camaro’s practicality is limited, you should also make sure the cabin, visibility, and cargo area still meet your needs.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SS 1LE stands out for its more aggressive appearance, matte-finish hood, black front splitter, black side mirrors, black rear lip spoiler, and Satin Graphite aluminum wheels. It also adds a more focused driving setup, but the source makes clear that outward visibility is still a tradeoff, so you should weigh the extra hardware against your daily-driving needs.
• Powertrain: The 1LE package is available with a Camaro LS or LT equipped with a V6 engine, or with a Camaro SS equipped with a V8 engine. The V8 version is described as a 6.2-liter engine with 455 horsepower and 455 pound-feet of torque, and the package adds magnetic ride control, upgraded cooling, staggered-width performance tires, and Brembo brakes.
• Safety package: Teen Driver is the named safety feature, and it lets you set vehicle attributes tied to a key fob and review a report of how the car was driven. Standard equipment includes a reversing camera, while blind-spot warning with lane-change assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking-assist sensors are optional.
• Infotainment: The Camaro uses MyLink with an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and OnStar services. The system also includes a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, and the Performance Data Recorder is available for capturing and reviewing driving sessions.
• Fuel efficiency: The source says the 1LE package should return 20 mpg in combined driving, while the test vehicle averaged 18.6 mpg on one loop and 16.5 mpg over a week.

Which 2017 Chevrolet Camaro trim should I buy?

The 2017 Chevrolet Camaro is offered in 1 trim level: SS 1LE.

Here's the short version:

The SS 1LE: is the clear choice if you want the Camaro’s most focused track-oriented setup in this model-year data. It adds magnetic ride control, upgraded cooling, performance tires, Brembo brakes, a heads-up display, and the Performance Data Recorder, so it suits you best if driving excitement matters more than comfort or practicality. The source also notes that the package can be paired with LS, LT, or SS hardware, but the SS version is the most powerful and most serious setup described here.

The safety package note to keep in mind is that Teen Driver is included, while blind-spot warning with lane-change assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking-assist sensors are optional.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Chevrolet Camaro?

This looks like a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting a deep buyer’s market.

• Deal availability: 30.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,284 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 2.20% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 56.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,915, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro's resale value?

The current average of $23,857 sits slightly above last year's $23,343.

That year-over-year increase suggests the Camaro has held demand well enough to support pricing. For a future seller, that’s a useful sign that the market still values this model year’s performance appeal. The current price position also suggests you may not need to discount heavily if your car is clean, well maintained, and accident-free.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.74/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro safe?

The Camaro earns a five-star rating from the federal government for 4-cylinder and V6 models only, and it gets an Acceptable roof-strength result from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The Camaro includes Teen Driver, which lets you tie settings to a key fob and review a report of how the car was driven. A reversing camera is standard, and blind-spot warning with lane-change assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking-assist sensors are available. The main caveat is that the car does not include automatic emergency braking or automatic steering assistance, so you should not expect advanced crash-avoidance tech to come standard.

Should I buy a 2017 Chevrolet Camaro or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 30.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 56.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 2.20% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.74/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2017 stands out for its track-focused SS 1LE setup and strong expert performance score.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $22,839, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $23,857 average.
• The 2016 is a redesigned Camaro with updated looks, a better interior, and modern infotainment.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger performance-focused choice and are comfortable paying a bit more, the 2017 is the better path. If your priority is saving money up front, the 2016 is the more budget-friendly alternative and still brings the redesigned Camaro formula.
