How much does the 2017 Cadillac XT5 cost?

Prices have softened 9.10% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,208 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2017 Cadillac XT5 a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Cadillac XT5 earns a 4.82/5 user rating and a 7.33/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its comfortable ride, smooth driving experience, and stylish design, and they also appreciate the safety features. In use, it comes across as a comfort-oriented luxury crossover with a strong emphasis on refinement, space, and technology. That makes it a good fit if you want a roomy, upscale daily driver rather than a sporty crossover. 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there are still some attractive opportunities in the market.

Is the 2017 Cadillac XT5 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.82/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels comfortable and dependable in everyday use, with repeated praise for its smooth driving character and luxury feel. The same feedback also highlights that many owners feel good about the XT5’s safety features, which supports the impression that it’s a vehicle you can count on for regular use. Cadillac’s own positioning emphasizes a lightweight, tech-forward crossover built to replace the SRX, which reinforces the idea of a modern, well-equipped ownership experience.

That said, used buyers should still pay close attention to maintenance history and overall condition, especially because luxury features and electronics can become expensive if prior care was inconsistent.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Cadillac XT5?

At 59.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing has any accident history or incomplete service records. Focus on the condition of the infotainment system, seats, and driver-assistance features, since owner feedback and expert impressions both point to those as areas worth checking closely. It also makes sense to confirm that the vehicle’s luxury and safety equipment works as intended, because much of the XT5’s appeal comes from its feature content.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Base models already include an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an 8-speaker Bose sound system, a rear-view camera, parking sensors, keyless ignition and entry, remote start, dual-zone climate control, a power liftgate, and a power tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel. Higher trims add leather, heated and ventilated seating, a heated steering wheel, panoramic sunroof, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and more advanced comfort and convenience features.
• Powertrain: The XT5 uses a 3.6-liter V6 across the lineup, rated at 310 hp and 271 lb-ft, paired with an 8-speed transmission. It delivers adequate acceleration, but the engine can sound strained at higher revs and the transmission can feel jerky in stop-and-go traffic.
• Safety package: The Driver Awareness package adds forward-collision mitigation with pedestrian detection, auto high beams, and lane-departure warning and assist. The Driver Assist package adds adaptive cruise, automatic parking, and an upgraded collision mitigation system. Some of these features are not standard on lower trims.
• Infotainment: Every trim gets an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The system also includes CUE, and the vehicle offers wireless charging, though the interface is a common complaint point.
• Fuel efficiency: The V6 is EPA estimated at 18 mpg city and 26 mpg highway, for a combined 21 mpg. Real-world results can be notably lower, so fuel costs are worth factoring into your budget.

Which 2017 Cadillac XT5 trim should I buy?

The 2017 Cadillac XT5 is offered in 4 trim levels: Base, Luxury, Premium Luxury, Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• Base: This is the value play if you want the XT5’s core luxury and tech without paying for extras. You still get the 8-inch touchscreen, smartphone integration, Bose audio, a rear-view camera, parking sensors, remote start, and a power liftgate, so it covers the essentials well.
• Luxury: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds leather, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a panoramic sunroof, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and more comfort features without jumping all the way to the top of the range.
• Premium Luxury: Choose this if you want a more upscale feel and are willing to pay for added equipment like vented front seats, interior accent lighting, and continually adjusting suspension dampers. It also bundles in the Driver Awareness and Navigation packages.
• Platinum: This is the most fully equipped version, with premium leather, unique 20-inch wheels, a hands-free power liftgate, heated outer seats, 3-zone climate control, a 360-degree camera view, and a head-up display. It makes sense if you want the most features and the most polished presentation.

The safety-package trims are worth noting: Driver Awareness and Driver Assist are not standard across the lineup, so if those systems matter to you, make sure the trim or package you choose includes them.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Cadillac XT5?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient and compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,208 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.10% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 59.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,193, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Cadillac XT5's resale value?

The current average of $15,193 sits slightly below last year's $16,714.

That decline suggests the XT5 has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can be helpful if you’re buying now but less favorable if you plan to sell soon. For a future seller, the current trend means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment level rather than on broad market momentum. Well-kept examples with desirable features should hold up better than average, but the overall trend still points to softer future trade-in strength than a year ago.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.82/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2017 Cadillac XT5 safe?

The 2017 Cadillac XT5 has not been tested by NHTSA, but Cadillac says its full suite of airbags, traction and stability control systems, and optional safety features should support strong protection.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The available safety tech includes forward-collision alert and mitigation, lane-departure warning and correction, front pedestrian detection, parking sensors front and back, adaptive cruise with a following distance indicator, and an upgraded collision-mitigation system. OnStar is standard as well, with automatic crash notification, stolen vehicle recovery, remote door unlock, and roadside assistance. Some of the most advanced driver-assistance features are tied to higher trims or optional packages, so you’ll want to verify exactly what’s installed on any used example you’re considering.

Should I buy a 2017 Cadillac XT5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 59.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.10% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.82/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2017 XT5 was introduced as Cadillac’s lighter, roomier, more tech-focused replacement for the SRX, giving it a clear identity as a comfort-oriented luxury crossover.

The bottom line: The 2017 XT5 makes the most sense if you want a well-equipped luxury crossover at a softened price and you’re willing to shop carefully for condition and history. If you’re especially price-sensitive, the current market gives you room to negotiate, but you should still prioritize a clean, well-documented example over the cheapest listing you can find.
