How much does the 2017 Cadillac XT5 cost?

Prices have softened 9.05% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,235 listings available, which gives you a solid pool to compare prices and equipment.

Is the 2017 Cadillac XT5 a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Cadillac XT5 earns a 4.82/5 user rating and a 7.33/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise the XT5 for its comfort, smooth driving experience, stylish design, and safety features. That lines up with its role as a lighter, roomier, more tech-focused luxury crossover that aims to feel upscale and modern rather than purely utilitarian.

For you, that means the XT5 makes the most sense if you want a premium crossover with a comfort-first personality and a strong feature set. 33.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there’s still room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Cadillac XT5 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.82/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels comfortable, smooth, and generally dependable enough to inspire enthusiasm over time. The review summary also emphasizes that many owners appreciate the XT5’s long-term appeal through its comfort and upscale character, even if a few mention fuel economy concerns.

Cadillac’s own testing notes also frame the XT5 as a well-equipped luxury crossover with the kind of technology and safety content that supports everyday confidence. The cost-effectiveness commentary adds that Cadillac has been falling in reliability ratings, so used buyers should pay close attention to maintenance records and overall condition.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Cadillac XT5?

At 60.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing has any accident history or incomplete service documentation. Pay close attention to how the infotainment system, seats, and transmission feel in real-world use, since those are the kinds of areas owners and testers have flagged. It’s also smart to confirm that the safety and convenience equipment you want is actually present, because some of the best features were tied to higher trims or packages.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Base trim already includes an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a rear-view camera, parking sensors, keyless ignition and entry, remote start, dual-zone climate control, a power liftgate, and an 8-speaker Bose system. Luxury adds leather, more seat adjustment, a heated steering wheel, panoramic sunroof, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and other comfort upgrades, while Platinum brings the most upscale equipment and more advanced tech.
• Powertrain: The XT5 uses a 3.6-liter V6 across the lineup, with 310 horsepower and 271 lb-ft of torque. It delivers decent acceleration, but the engine can sound strained at higher revs, and the 8-speed transmission can feel jerky in stop-and-go traffic.
• Safety package: The Driver Awareness package adds forward-collision mitigation with pedestrian detection, auto high beams, and lane-departure warning and assist. The Driver Assist package adds adaptive cruise, automatic parking, and an upgraded collision-mitigation system. Some of the most useful safety features are not standard on lower trims.
• Infotainment: Every trim gets an 8-inch touchscreen with CUE, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and smartphone integration. The system also includes wireless charging, but the interface can be frustrating, so you should test it carefully before buying.
• Fuel efficiency: The XT5 is EPA estimated at 18 mpg city and 26 mpg highway, for a combined rating of 21 mpg.

Which 2017 Cadillac XT5 trim should I buy?

The 2017 Cadillac XT5 is offered in 4 trim levels: Base, Luxury, Premium Luxury, Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• Base: This is the value play if you want the XT5’s core luxury-crossover experience without stretching the budget. You still get the 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bose audio, a rear-view camera, parking sensors, remote start, and a power liftgate.
• Luxury: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds leather, more seat comfort and adjustment, a heated steering wheel, panoramic sunroof, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and useful cargo-management features.
• Premium Luxury: Choose this if you want a more upscale feel and are willing to pay for added comfort and tech. It adds the Driver Awareness and Navigation packages, vented front seats, illuminated door handles, and continuously adjusting suspension dampers.
• Platinum: This is the trim to buy if you want the most complete XT5 experience, with premium leather, unique styling details, a hands-free power liftgate, heated outer seats, 3-zone climate control, a 360-degree camera view, and a head-up display.

The safety-package trims are worth noting because several of the most desirable driver-assistance features are still package-dependent even as you move up the lineup.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Cadillac XT5?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to compare options and enough price softness to reward patience.

• Deal availability: 33.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,235 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.05% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 60.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,161, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Cadillac XT5's resale value?

The current average of $15,161 sits slightly below last year's $16,669.

That decline suggests the XT5 has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can be good news if you’re buying now. For a future seller, though, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment level rather than on market momentum alone.

The softer price trend can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle, but it also signals that the model may not hold value as strongly as some rivals. Well-kept examples with desirable features should still be easier to move later than rougher, lower-spec listings.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.82/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2017 Cadillac XT5 safe?

The 2017 Cadillac XT5 has not been tested by NHTSA, so there isn’t a crash-test rating to cite here.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Cadillac equips the XT5 with a full suite of airbags, including curtain airbags and a driver knee airbag, plus traction and stability control. Available driver-assistance features include forward-collision alert and mitigation, lane-departure warning and correction, front pedestrian detection, parking sensors front and back, adaptive cruise with a following-distance indicator, and an upgraded collision-mitigation system.

The main caveat is that a lot of the best safety equipment is tied to higher trims or optional packages, so you should verify exactly what’s on the specific vehicle you’re considering.

Should I buy a 2017 Cadillac XT5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 33.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 60.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.05% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.82/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Cadillac’s own testing emphasizes a lighter, roomier, more tech-focused crossover with a strong comfort-and-luxury identity.

The bottom line: The 2017 XT5 makes sense if you want the earlier, more affordable entry point into this generation and you’re willing to shop carefully for condition and equipment. If you’re more price-sensitive and want the best chance at a cleaner, better-equipped example, it’s worth comparing nearby model years before you decide.
