CarGurus Analysis: 2017 Cadillac Escalade

Summary
With 105 currently listed for sale and an average price of $19,999, 23.8% of 2017 Cadillac Escalade listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2017 Cadillac Escalade 4.29 / 5 stars.
56.2% of 2017 Cadillac Escalade listings on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2017 Cadillac Escalade stands out as a large luxury SUV that blends a commanding presence with a long list of upscale equipment. For this generation, Cadillac emphasized a more refined interior and a tech-heavy cabin, while keeping the Escalade body-on-frame and offering both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. It also came with the 6.2-liter V8 and a 10-speed automatic transmission, which helped preserve the model’s traditional V8 character at a time when many rivals had moved to turbocharged six-cylinder engines.
What makes the 2017 model especially distinctive is how much equipment Cadillac packed into it. Standard features included the CUE infotainment system, 4G LTE connectivity, a hands-free power liftgate, tri-zone climate control, and a surround-view camera, while driver-assistance features such as automatic high-beam control and lane-keep assist were added for this model year. The 2017 update also brought a new trim structure, an updated grille, new headlights, an updated CUE system, a Live-View rear-vision camera in the rearview mirror, and a rear-seat reminder. That combination gives the 2017 Escalade a strong mix of luxury, convenience, and modern tech.
There are tradeoffs, though. The Escalade’s size can make it difficult to fit in a garage, and its fuel economy and ride quality are both listed as drawbacks. Even so, buyers drawn to a spacious, comfortable, and highly equipped full-size SUV will find the 2017 Cadillac Escalade appealing, especially if they want a model that feels distinctly premium and still delivers V8 power.

The front hood paint was really weathered. Like a matt oxidization. Definitely left a pic of that angle off for a reason.

The 2017 Cadillac Escalade Luxury is loaded with features that would make any ride comfortable or even having fun just hanging in the car parked in the driveway. The car is a great value if you can get it for a decent price as demand can give way to sellers overpricing these trucks.

How much does the 2017 Cadillac Escalade cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $24,254 |
| Year-Round Low | $24,254 |
| Year-Round High | $26,806 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $26,608 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −8.85% |
Prices have softened 8.85% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 871 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.
Is the 2017 Cadillac Escalade a good car?
Generally — the 2017 Cadillac Escalade earns a 4.29/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners repeatedly praise its luxurious features, comfort, standout style, and the way it feels loaded with amenities. The overview also supports that impression: you’re looking at a spacious, comfortable, highly equipped full-size SUV with a premium feel and V8 power, though its size, fuel economy, and ride quality are tradeoffs to keep in mind. With 34.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.
Is the 2017 Cadillac Escalade reliable?
Owners rate it 4.29/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a vehicle that many drivers feel good about living with over time, especially when it comes to comfort and overall value. At the same time, some owners mention maintenance costs that can rise after a few years, so reliability here is best approached as a matter of careful upkeep rather than carefree ownership. For used buyers, that means long-term risk is manageable if you prioritize service history and condition.
What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Cadillac Escalade?
At 56.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from those with prior damage or repeated claims. After that, put inspection priority on body condition, panel alignment, and signs of repair quality, since those details matter more when a meaningful share of the market has accident history. You should also focus on maintenance records and overall wear, because a luxury SUV like this can be rewarding to own only if it has been cared for consistently.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Cadillac Escalade?
This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile opportunities.
- Deal availability: 34.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 871 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.85% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 56.9% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $24,254, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2017 Cadillac Escalade's resale value?
The current average of $24,254 sits slightly below last year's $26,608.
That softer pricing can help you buy more affordably now, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited unless the market tightens again. If you plan to sell later, the best protection is buying a clean, well-kept example at a fair price so you have less depreciation to absorb. Strong demand for a luxury SUV with broad appeal can still support resale, especially when the vehicle presents well and has a solid ownership record.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.29/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2017 Cadillac Escalade or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2017 if:
- 34.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 56.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.85% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.29/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, features, and owner satisfaction, the 2017 is the primary year to target. It gives you a strong mix of luxury equipment and a lower average price than last year, which makes it appealing if you want value without moving too far back in the lineup. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can widen your search to nearby years, but the 2017 remains the better starting point when you want a premium full-size SUV with broad shopper appeal.
