CarGurus Analysis: 2017 Cadillac Escalade

Summary
With 97 currently listed for sale near Los Angeles, CA and an average price of $27,376.00, 13.4% of 2017 Cadillac Escalades for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2017 Cadillac Escalade 4.29 / 5 stars.
73.2% of 2017 Escalade models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2017 Cadillac Escalade stands out as a full-size luxury SUV that blends bold styling with a long list of upscale equipment. It was part of the fourth generation, which is described as having a blockier, more aggressive exterior and an interior that was refined and packed with technology. For this model year, the Escalade also kept the body-on-frame layout, with rear-wheel drive standard and all-wheel drive available, and it was offered in standard and ESV versions.
What makes the 2017 model especially appealing is the breadth of its equipment and the way Cadillac kept updating it. Standard features included active-aero shutters, 20-inch chrome-plated aluminum wheels, a hands-free power liftgate, remote start, tri-zone climate control, and an 8,300-pound towing capacity. It also came with the CUE infotainment system, 4G LTE connectivity, a surround-view camera, and a power-operated third row that folded flat into the floor. For 2017 specifically, Cadillac introduced a new trim structure, an updated grille, new headlights, an updated CUE system, the Live-View rear-vision camera in the rearview mirror, and a rear-seat reminder.
There are tradeoffs, though. The 2017 Escalade used a 420hp, 6.2-liter V8 as its only powertrain, and the original six-speed automatic had already changed to an eight-speed automatic partway through the first year of production. The model’s strengths are its luxury, presence, and feature content, but it is also associated with poor fuel economy and poor ride quality, which are worth keeping in mind for shoppers who want a large SUV that feels premium but still has some compromises.

The front hood paint was really weathered. Like a matt oxidization. Definitely left a pic of that angle off for a reason.

The 2017 Cadillac Escalade Luxury is loaded with features that would make any ride comfortable or even having fun just hanging in the car parked in the driveway. The car is a great value if you can get it for a decent price as demand can give way to sellers overpricing these trucks.

The features provides comfort in luxury standard. The value is fair for all its equipped with. I dont think its missing anything. There is no true comparison to the Escalade, style and presentation puts it into a class of its own.

How much does the 2017 Cadillac Escalade cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $24,561 |
| Year-Round Low | $24,561.41 |
| Year-Round High | $27,228.76 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $27,239 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −9.83% |
Prices have softened 9.83% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 879 listings available, which suggests a reasonable amount of inventory to compare before you buy.
If you find a listing below $24,561.41, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2017 Cadillac Escalade a good car?
Generally — the 4.29/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the Escalade’s luxurious features, comfort, and standout style, and they also describe it as loaded with impressive amenities. For you, that makes it a compelling choice if you want a full-size luxury SUV with a premium feel and a long list of equipment. With 32.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2017 Cadillac Escalade reliable?
Owners rate it 4.29/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience in the sense that people appreciate the Escalade’s comfort and feature-rich character over time. At the same time, many owners mention maintenance costs that may rise after a few years, so you should plan for a premium ownership budget. For used buyers, that means the biggest long-term risk is not just purchase price, but the cost of keeping a large luxury SUV in good shape.
What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Cadillac Escalade?
At 61.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. Then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially on body panels, electronics, suspension behavior, and signs of uneven wear. Because this is a large luxury SUV, condition matters a lot: a clean, well-maintained example is more likely to deliver the ownership experience you want.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Cadillac Escalade?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without expecting every listing to be a bargain.
- Deal availability: 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 879 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 9.83% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 61.8% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $24,561.41, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2017 Cadillac Escalade's resale value?
The current average of $24,561 sits slightly below last year's $27,239.
That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point today. For a future seller, it also means resale value may depend heavily on how well you preserve condition and documentation, since buyers in this segment tend to compare carefully. A well-kept example should still have appeal because shoppers in this class often respond to strong equipment and premium presentation.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.29/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2017 Cadillac Escalade or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2017 if:
- 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 61.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 9.83% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.29/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: If you want the strongest balance of price, features, and owner satisfaction, the 2017 is the primary year to target. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can also compare nearby years to see whether a cleaner or better-equipped example offers more value for a similar outlay, but the 2017 already gives you a compelling mix of market softness and buyer appeal.
