CarGurus Analysis: 2017 Cadillac Escalade

Summary
With 105 currently listed for sale near Los Angeles, CA and an average price of $27,669, 11.4% of 2017 Cadillac Escalades for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2017 Cadillac Escalade 4.29 / 5 stars.
74.3% of 2017 Escalade models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2017 Cadillac Escalade stands out as a full-size luxury SUV that leans hard into comfort, technology, and presence. It has a blockier, more aggressive exterior, while the interior is described as refined and tech-heavy. Cadillac kept it body-on-frame, and it was offered with rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, plus standard and ESV versions. For buyers who want a large SUV that feels upscale rather than merely utilitarian, that combination of luxury materials and traditional truck-based toughness is a major part of its appeal.
This model year also benefits from a strong equipment list. Standard features included active-aero shutters, 20-inch chrome-plated aluminum wheels, a hands-free power liftgate, remote start, tri-zone climate control, and an 8,300-pound towing capacity. It also had a power-operated third row that folded flat into the floor, along with a surround-view camera, the CUE infotainment system, 4G LTE connectivity, and a new Cadillac Crest logo. Under the hood, the 2017 Cadillac Escalade used a 420hp, 6.2-liter V8 with a six-speed automatic, and the transmission had already changed to an eight-speed automatic partway through the first year of production.
There are a few tradeoffs to keep in mind. The source notes poor fuel economy and poor ride quality, and the Escalade’s size means it might not fit in your garage. Even so, the 2017 Cadillac Escalade remains distinctive because it combines a lavish cabin, serious towing ability, and a long list of convenience and tech features in a package that still feels unmistakably Cadillac.

The front hood paint was really weathered. Like a matt oxidization. Definitely left a pic of that angle off for a reason.

The 2017 Cadillac Escalade Luxury is loaded with features that would make any ride comfortable or even having fun just hanging in the car parked in the driveway. The car is a great value if you can get it for a decent price as demand can give way to sellers overpricing these trucks.

Is the 2017 Cadillac Escalade a good car?
Generally — the 4.29/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the Escalade’s luxurious features, comfort, standout style, and impressive amenities, and they also describe it as a good value for what it offers. The overview fits that feedback: you’re looking at a full-size luxury SUV that leans into comfort, technology, and presence, with a refined, tech-heavy cabin and serious towing capability. With 33.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2017 Cadillac Escalade reliable?
Owners rate it 4.29/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also points to dependable appeal over time, with comments that suggest it can be a vehicle you count on for comfort and features across years of ownership. At the same time, buyers should keep maintenance costs in mind, since that concern comes up in the review summary. For used shoppers, that means the long-term ownership risk is less about basic appeal and more about making sure the specific vehicle has been cared for properly.
What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Cadillac Escalade?
At 61.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from those with prior damage or repeated claims. After that, prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially on a large luxury SUV where repair costs can add up quickly. Focus your condition check on signs of wear, maintenance consistency, and whether the vehicle’s features and systems still work as expected.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Cadillac Escalade?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient and compare listings carefully.
- Deal availability: 33.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 865 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.92% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 61.5% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $24,554, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2017 Cadillac Escalade's resale value?
The current average of $24,563 sits slightly below last year's $26,969.
That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy more affordably now but may also mean future resale gains are limited unless demand strengthens. If you plan to sell later, condition and maintenance history will matter a lot, especially in a segment where buyers expect a premium experience. Well-kept examples should still attract attention because the Escalade’s luxury image and feature set remain part of its appeal.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.29/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2017 Cadillac Escalade or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2017 if:
- 33.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 61.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.92% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.29/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: If you want the strongest balance of price, owner satisfaction, and current market availability, the 2017 is a sensible primary target. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on the cleanest, best-documented example rather than chasing the newest badge alone.
