Is the 2017 Cadillac Escalade ESV a good car?

Yes — 5/5 is a strong user rating for the 2017 Cadillac Escalade ESV. It stands out as a full-size luxury SUV built around space, comfort, and presence, with a long-wheelbase layout that helps make it a plush way to carry a family’s worth of people and belongings. You also get three rows, up to 121 cubic feet of cargo space with the seats folded, and a long list of convenience and technology features that support its upscale, family-hauling mission. With 33.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s meaningful market opportunity if you shop carefully.

Is the 2017 Cadillac Escalade ESV reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2017 Cadillac Escalade ESV is built around a proven formula: a 6.2L V8, substantial towing capability, and a luxury-focused feature set that emphasizes comfort and convenience. Its strengths are rooted in size and equipment, while its main drawbacks are poor fuel economy and technology that can feel dated compared with newer rivals. For used buyers, that means the bigger ownership risk is less about outright capability and more about whether the vehicle has been maintained well enough to keep its premium systems and heavy-duty hardware in good shape.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Cadillac Escalade ESV?

At 55.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. After that, prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially for signs of uneven wear, bodywork quality, and any issues with the SUV’s electronics or luxury features. Because this model is large, heavy, and loaded with equipment, condition matters more than mileage alone when you’re trying to separate a strong example from a risky one.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Cadillac Escalade ESV?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be choosy if you’re patient and focused on condition.

• Deal availability: 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 549 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.36% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 55.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,648, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Cadillac Escalade ESV's resale value?

The current average of $22,648 sits slightly below last year's $24,714.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can make resale a little more challenging if you buy at the wrong point in the range. If you plan to sell later, your best protection is choosing a clean, well-kept example with desirable equipment and strong documentation. Because this model still has broad appeal as a luxury family SUV, the right condition and trim combination can help it hold buyer interest better than a rougher example.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Cadillac Escalade ESV or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 55.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.36% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line:

The 2017 is the better primary choice if you want the strongest mix of current pricing, broad inventory, and high owner satisfaction in this model-year window. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can widen your search to nearby years, but the 2017 gives you a compelling starting point because the market has softened and there are enough listings to shop selectively without rushing.
