How much does the 2017 Audi A4 cost?

There are 890 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2017 Audi A4 a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Audi A4 earns a 4.5/5 user rating and an 8.3/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Look and feel and Performance.

Drivers consistently praise its luxury, comfort, and performance, along with its stylish design, smooth handling, and high-quality interior materials. The Virtual Cockpit and advanced technology features also stand out as recurring strengths.

For you, that means this A4 fits especially well if you want a compact luxury sedan that feels modern and forward-looking rather than merely familiar. 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there is still room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Audi A4 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback points to a car that feels dependable in daily use, with repeated praise for its comfort, performance, and overall refinement. The expert evaluation also emphasizes how confidently the A4 drives, with its steering, braking, and suspension working together in a way that feels composed and controlled.

The ownership picture is helped by the car’s strong all-around character, but you should still pay close attention to maintenance history and how the electronics, driver-assistance systems, and transmission behave on a test drive. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about basic durability and more about whether a specific car has been cared for consistently.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Audi A4?

At 57.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has any signs of prior bodywork or electronic glitches. Focus on condition, because the A4’s appeal depends heavily on how well its luxury features, driver-assistance systems, and interior presentation have held up.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Premium trim includes front-wheel drive, a 7-speed automated manual transmission, 17-inch aluminum wheels, HID headlights, leather seats, triple-zone automatic climate control, a 10-speaker sound system, and forward-collision warning with front and rear automatic emergency braking. Premium Plus adds S-line exterior trim, larger 18-inch wheels, LED headlights, parking-assist sensors, a Bang & Olufsen sound system, passive keyless entry, and SOS emergency calling. Prestige adds Audi Virtual Cockpit, navigation with handwriting recognition, Audi Connect services, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, a heads-up display, and a 360-degree top-view camera system.
• Powertrain: The 2.0-liter turbocharged engine delivers broad horsepower and torque across much of the rev range, and the Quattro all-wheel-drive system adds planted, confident handling. The transmission has a Sport mode, paddle shifters, and Drive Mode Select settings that change engine response, transmission behavior, and steering feel.
• Safety package: Audi Pre-Sense Basic and Pre-Sense City are standard, with forward collision warning, front and rear automatic emergency braking, and pedestrian detection. Higher trims add blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic assist, lane-departure warning and assist, turn assist, Pre-Sense Rear, and automatic high-beam headlights.
• Infotainment: The MMI system uses an 8.3-inch screen, and the interface is controlled through the center console, steering wheel controls, or voice recognition rather than touch input. Audi Virtual Cockpit, Audi Connect services, and the 19-speaker Bang & Olufsen Surround Sound system are available on higher trims.
• Fuel efficiency: The Quattro model is described as returning 27 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2017 Audi A4 trim should I buy?

The 2017 Audi A4 is offered in 3 trim levels: Premium, Premium Plus, Prestige.

Here's the short version:

• Premium: This is the value play if you want the A4’s core luxury and safety features without paying for the higher-end tech. You still get leather seats, triple-zone climate control, and standard automatic emergency braking, so it covers the essentials well.
• Premium Plus: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the equipment that makes the A4 feel meaningfully more upscale, including LED headlights, parking sensors, passive keyless entry, and the upgraded Bang & Olufsen audio system.
• Prestige: Choose this if you want the most advanced tech and driver-assistance content, including Audi Virtual Cockpit, navigation, blind-spot monitoring, a heads-up display, and the 360-degree camera system.

The safety-package upgrades are concentrated in the higher trims, so if those features matter to you, it is worth shopping above the base model.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Audi A4?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 890 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.76% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 57.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,307, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Audi A4's resale value?

The current average of $13,307 sits slightly below last year's $14,272.

That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point. For a future seller, that also means resale value will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the car has been maintained.

Because the A4 has strong owner satisfaction and broad appeal as a compact luxury sedan, well-kept examples should continue to attract interest. Cars with clean histories and desirable equipment are likely to hold up better than neglected or heavily worn examples.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2017 Audi A4 safe?

The 2017 Audi A4 earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Audi Pre-Sense Basic and Pre-Sense City are standard, bringing forward collision warning, front and rear automatic emergency braking, and pedestrian detection. Higher trims add blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic assist, lane-departure warning and assist, turn assist, Pre-Sense Rear, and automatic high-beam headlights.

One caveat is that the automatic emergency braking system can feel intrusive in some situations, so you should test how the driver-assistance systems behave before you buy.

Should I buy a 2017 Audi A4 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 57.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.76% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2017 redesign gives you the A4’s modern styling, upgraded technology, and the model’s clear shift toward Audi’s future.

The bottom line: If you want the most modern-feeling version of this generation, the 2017 A4 is the one to target. If your priority is stretching your budget further, a nearby year may be worth considering, but the 2017 stands out for its redesign, technology, and strong owner feedback.
