CarGurus Analysis: 2017 Acura RDX

Summary
With 708 currently listed for sale and an average price of $16,073, 29.8% of 2017 Acura RDXs for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2017 Acura RDX 4.88 / 5 stars.
55.9% of 2017 RDX models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2017 Acura RDX stands out as a practical luxury crossover that still keeps some of Acura’s original sporty character. By this point in the model’s second generation, it had grown larger than the first-generation version, with more room inside the cabin and plenty of space for adult passengers in both rows. It also offered 61.3 cubic feet of cargo capacity with the rear seats folded flat, making it a more usable family vehicle than the earlier RDX.
What makes the 2017 RDX appealing is the balance it strikes between comfort, equipment, and everyday usability. It came with a 3.5-liter V6 making 273 horsepower, and the suspension was softened for a more comfortable driving experience. The available Technology Package added a navigation system and a 10-speaker ELS premium audio system, while the Advance Package brought ventilated front seats and remote engine start. Acura also had already added driver-assist technology through the AcuraWatch Plus Package, including adaptive cruise control, forward collision mitigation with automatic braking, lane departure intervention, and blind-spot monitoring.
At the same time, the 2017 Acura RDX was not the most exciting choice for drivers who wanted sharp handling, and its two-screen infotainment setup was described as not very intuitive to use. Even so, it remained a strong option for buyers who wanted a comfortable, well-equipped premium crossover with a roomy interior and solid power.

Feature set for this model good. Not having retractable mirrors is a disappointment. Otherwise I’m pleased with the design.

The 2017 Acura RDX is an excellent choice for a nice suv. This particular model year has a v6 with lots of power. With tons of standard features it is a bargain and fun to drive. The only negative is that it needs premium gas for optimum performance. Great product at a reasonable price compared to its competitors.

How much does the 2017 Acura RDX cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $16,028 |
| Year-Round Low | $15,452.63 |
| Year-Round High | $16,621.05 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $16,457 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −2.61% |
Prices have softened 2.61% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 700 listings available, which suggests you have a workable amount of inventory to compare.
If you find a listing below $15,452.63, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2017 Acura RDX a good car?
Yes — the 2017 Acura RDX earns a 4.88/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction.
Drivers consistently praise its spacious, luxurious feel, smooth ride, and robust power. The review summary also highlights appreciated features such as the sunroof and technology, along with positive comments about the design and handling.
For you, that means this model fits best if you want a compact luxury crossover that emphasizes comfort, everyday usability, and a premium-feeling cabin rather than sporty driving dynamics. With 31.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2017 Acura RDX reliable?
Owners rate it 4.88/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The review summary points to a dependable ownership experience through its smooth ride, robust power, and the kind of comfort that makes daily use easy to live with. It also suggests the RDX has the sort of trouble-free, long-term appeal many used buyers want from a luxury crossover.
For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the overall reputation and more about finding a well-kept example with a clean history and consistent maintenance.
What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Acura RDX?
At 55.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection if the listing looks especially attractive on price. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the vehicle’s overall wear matches its mileage and asking price.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Acura RDX?
This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting every listing to be a bargain.
- Deal availability: 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 700 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.61% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 55.6% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $15,452.63, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2017 Acura RDX's resale value?
The current average of $16,028 sits slightly below last year's $16,457.
That softer pricing can work in your favor if you buy now, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited unless you choose a well-maintained example. If you plan to sell later, condition and history will matter a lot because buyers tend to pay more for clean, well-cared-for luxury crossovers.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.88/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2017 Acura RDX or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2017 if:
- 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 55.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.61% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.88/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2016 if:
- At $14,711, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $16,028 average.
- It brings a meaningful update with upgraded powertrain, safety, and infotainment.
The bottom line: If you want the stronger all-around used-buy case, the 2017 is the better default because it combines solid owner satisfaction with a reasonable market price. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2016 is the better secondary path, especially if you find one in excellent condition.
