You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection so you can catch hidden bodywork, suspension, or electronics issues. That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the XC60 more approachable for you as a buyer but may also limit near-term upside for a future seller. If you buy at a strong price and keep the vehicle in excellent condition, you give yourself a better chance of preserving value. The model’s strong owner satisfaction helps support demand, especially among shoppers who prioritize comfort and safety.

Should I buy a 2016 Volvo XC60 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 35.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 64.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.04% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.89/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 XC60 is the right pick if you want a safety-minded, comfortable luxury crossover with strong owner approval and a market that currently favors careful shoppers. If your priority is the lowest possible purchase price, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on the cleanest, best-priced example rather than the model year alone.
