You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection so you can catch hidden bodywork, suspension, or electronics issues. Should I buy a 2016 Volvo XC60 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 35.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 64.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.04% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.89/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 XC60 is the right pick if you want a safety-minded, comfortable luxury crossover with strong owner approval and a market that currently favors careful shoppers. If your priority is the lowest possible purchase price, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on the cleanest, best-priced example rather than the model year alone.
