Is the 2016 Toyota Sequoia a good car?

Yes — the 5/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. The 2016 Toyota Sequoia is a full-size, body-on-frame SUV with three-row practicality, truck-based toughness, and a clear focus on towing-oriented utility. It was built for buyers who want rugged construction and space for up to eight passengers, and it also offers a straightforward feature set with available comfort upgrades like a JBL audio system, rear-seat entertainment, and rear climate control. With 34.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitively priced example.

Is the 2016 Toyota Sequoia reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2016 Toyota Sequoia’s appeal centers on proven hardware and durability, with a robust 5.7-liter V8 and a truck-based design that emphasizes toughness over complexity. It also benefits from the broader strengths of this generation, including a reputation for reliability and strong value retention. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the core drivetrain and more about finding a well-maintained example that has avoided heavy wear from age, mileage, and hard use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Toyota Sequoia?

At 55% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from those with accident records. After that, prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection that focuses on body condition, structural integrity, and signs of wear that matter on a large, truck-based SUV. Pay close attention to overall maintenance quality, because condition can vary widely even within the same model year.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Toyota Sequoia?

This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 34.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 222 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.47% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 55.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $23,628, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Toyota Sequoia's resale value?

The current average of $23,628 sits slightly below last year's $26,098.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy more favorably today but may also limit near-term upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the good news is that the Sequoia’s truck-based utility and strong reputation can help keep demand steady among shoppers who want a durable full-size SUV. The challenge is that the current market is already pricing in some depreciation, so condition and maintenance history will matter a lot when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Toyota Sequoia or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 34.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 55% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.47% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of value, proven hardware, and broad market availability, the 2016 is a sensible primary target. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can also compare nearby years to see whether a cleaner or better-equipped example offers a better overall deal for your budget.
