Is the 2016 RAM 3500 a good car?

Is the 2016 RAM 3500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback describes it as reliable, powerful, and well suited to heavy-duty tasks, with owners also calling out its dependable towing ability and trouble-free feel in regular use. That said, some shoppers note front tire wear, so a careful inspection matters if you want to reduce long-term ownership risk on a used example.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 RAM 3500?

At 64.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean trucks from those with prior damage. After that, prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, with extra attention to body condition, tire wear, and signs of hard use. Because this is a heavy-duty truck, you’ll want to focus on how well the truck has been maintained and whether it shows evidence of demanding towing or work use.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 RAM 3500?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 29.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 433 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.42% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $31,980, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 RAM 3500's resale value?

The current average of $32,294 sits slightly below last year's $34,883.

That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favorable level today, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited if the market stays soft. If you plan to sell later, condition and maintenance history will matter even more because buyers tend to reward trucks that look well cared for and ready to work. Strong owner satisfaction can help support demand when it’s time to move on.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 RAM 3500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
