Used 2016 RAM 3500 for Sale near Illinois

How much does the 2016 RAM 3500 cost?

Prices have softened 8.98% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 407 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2016 RAM 3500 a good car?

Yes — the 2016 RAM 3500 earns a 4.75/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners commonly praise its reliability and power, especially for heavy-duty towing, and many also like its comfort and decent fuel economy in single rear wheel configurations. For you, that means this truck makes the most sense if you want a spacious, capable heavy-duty pickup that can handle serious work without feeling stripped down. With 29.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 RAM 3500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.75/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback also describes it as reliable, dependable, and well suited to heavy-duty use, especially when you need a truck you can count on for towing and other demanding tasks. That said, used buyers should still plan for the usual long-term ownership risks that come with a large, hard-working truck, especially if the previous owner used it heavily.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 RAM 3500?

At 64.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from trucks with prior damage. After that, put inspection priority on wear items and signs of hard use, since this model is often bought for demanding work. Focus especially on overall condition, because a truck that has been used for towing or heavy-duty service can look fine on paper while still needing closer scrutiny in person.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 RAM 3500?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on the right truck.

• Deal availability: 29.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 407 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.98% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 64.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $31,982, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 RAM 3500's resale value?

The current average of $32,570 sits slightly below last year's $35,785.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy more affordably now but may also mean slower appreciation if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key takeaway is that pricing discipline matters: trucks bought at a lower entry point are easier to position competitively later. Strong demand for capable heavy-duty pickups can still support resale, especially when the truck is well maintained and presented cleanly.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 RAM 3500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 29.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 64.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.98% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 is a strong choice if you want a heavy-duty truck with proven owner satisfaction and a market that currently gives you some negotiating room. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on the cleanest, best-priced example rather than chasing a specific model year alone.
