How much does the 2016 Mercedes-Benz S-Class cost?

Prices have softened 11.82% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 977 listings available, which gives you a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2016 Mercedes-Benz S-Class a good car?

The 2016 Mercedes-Benz S-Class is a compelling choice if you want a luxury sedan that emphasizes comfort, technology, and performance, though you should weigh ownership costs carefully. It earns a user rating of 3.92/5.

Drivers commonly praise its luxurious feel, advanced amenities, great handling, value for money, and superior performance compared with competitors. The overview also points to a cabin built around craftsmanship and standout tech, which makes it especially appealing if you want a flagship sedan that still feels richly appointed and modern.

With 33.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Mercedes-Benz S-Class reliable?

The 2016 Mercedes-Benz S-Class is presented as a deeply engineered luxury sedan with advanced technology and strong performance, but it also comes with ownership complexity that you should take seriously. Drivers note its luxurious feel and superior performance, while also calling out maintenance costs and electronic components as potential pain points over time.

That means long-term ownership risk is less about basic drivability and more about the possibility of expensive repairs if systems age poorly.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Mercedes-Benz S-Class?

At 59% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a full vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on electronics, suspension behavior, and signs of deferred maintenance, since this model’s complexity can make small issues expensive later. Pay close attention to overall condition and service records, because a well-kept example matters more here than a bargain that needs catch-up work.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Mercedes-Benz S-Class?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient and disciplined.

• Deal availability: 33.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 977 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.82% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 59.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $28,907, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Mercedes-Benz S-Class's resale value?

The current average of $29,065 sits slightly below last year's $32,963.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy more selectively today. For a future seller, it also means resale value may depend heavily on condition, mileage, and service history rather than just the badge alone. If you maintain the car well and keep documentation, you’ll be in a stronger position when it’s time to sell.

Should I buy a 2016 Mercedes-Benz S-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 33.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 59% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.82% compared with last year.

The bottom line: The 2016 is a strong pick if you want the S-Class experience at a softer price point and you’re willing to be selective about condition and history. If you want the broadest shopping advantage, this year makes sense for price-sensitive buyers who can verify a clean, well-maintained example; otherwise, you may want to compare nearby years for the best balance of equipment, condition, and value.
