How much does the 2016 Mercedes-Benz S-Class cost?

Prices have softened 10.75% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 947 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2016 Mercedes-Benz S-Class a good car?

With a 3.9/5 user rating, this S-Class looks like a strong fit if you want a luxury sedan that emphasizes comfort, technology, and driving polish without losing sight of value.

Drivers commonly praise its luxurious feel, advanced amenities, and great handling. Reviewers also point to its value for money and superior performance compared with competitors, which matters if you want a flagship sedan that still feels rewarding to drive.

The overview also frames it as a large luxury car for buyers who want something especially modern and richly equipped, so it makes the most sense if you care about a high-end cabin, advanced features, and a refined driving experience. 32.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Mercedes-Benz S-Class reliable?

The 2016 Mercedes-Benz S-Class is positioned as a flagship luxury sedan with advanced technology, fine craftsmanship, and a strong reputation for luxury and engineering.

User feedback also points to a dependable ownership experience in terms of comfort and performance, while noting that maintenance costs and electronic components can be challenging over time. That means the car can be rewarding to own, but long-term risk is higher if you buy one without a careful inspection and a clear maintenance history.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Mercedes-Benz S-Class?

At 57.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection from a shop that knows luxury sedans and their electronics. Focus on condition, maintenance records, and signs of prior bodywork or electrical issues, since those are the kinds of problems that can become expensive later.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Mercedes-Benz S-Class?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly when a strong listing appears.

• Deal availability: 32.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 947 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.75% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 57.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $28,180, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Mercedes-Benz S-Class's resale value?

The current average of $28,217 sits slightly below last year's $31,614.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point. For a future seller, it also means you should expect depreciation pressure to remain part of the ownership equation, especially if the car has higher mileage or incomplete service records.

Should I buy a 2016 Mercedes-Benz S-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 32.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 57.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.75% compared with last year.

The bottom line: The 2016 is a good path if you want a well-equipped flagship sedan and you can be selective about condition and history. If you’re especially price-sensitive, a nearby year may be worth comparing, but the 2016 still stands out when you find a clean example with strong records and a price near the lower end of the range.
