How much does the 2016 Mercedes-Benz Metris cost?

Prices have softened 6.67% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 65 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2016 Mercedes-Benz Metris a good car?

The 2016 Mercedes-Benz Metris earns an expert rating of 5.8/10. The standout strength is Performance at 7/10.

It is designed for commercial use, but it can also appeal if you want a vehicle that solves certain personal-use transportation needs and feels more polished than its mission suggests. The ride is smooth and comfortable for passengers, and the driving dynamics are more responsive and engaging than you might expect from a work-oriented van.

That said, it is not the better choice for most people most of the time, and its luxury-brand badge does not translate into a strong value equation. 30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Mercedes-Benz Metris reliable?

The 2016 Mercedes-Benz Metris is presented as a work-focused van, and the available expert commentary suggests it should be dependable enough for the long haul. The cost-effectiveness assessment also points to a residual value award and notes that the van is engineered for work instead of play.

Its performance notes reinforce that impression: the turbocharged 2.0-liter engine pulls willingly, cruises effortlessly, and climbs grades without trouble. The same assessment also says the 7-speed automatic shifts almost imperceptibly, which supports the sense of a well-sorted powertrain.

If you are buying used, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about whether the van’s condition, equipment, and maintenance history match the premium you may pay for its badge and configuration.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Mercedes-Benz Metris?

At 60% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the van has been used for shuttle or cargo duty. Pay close attention to signs of heavy wear, uneven body condition, and whether the equipment you want is actually present, since this model’s usefulness depends a lot on configuration.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin and equipment can feel sparse at the lower end, and the base setup leaves out some of the convenience and comfort items that make the van easier to live with.
• Powertrain: It uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine with 208 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive.
• Safety package: The Active Safety Plus package adds front and rear parking sensors, heated side mirrors, blind-spot warning, rain-sensing wipers, collision prevention, and lane-departure warning.
• Infotainment: The system uses a 5.8-inch non-touch display with Bluetooth and USB, plus an optional navigation system.
• Fuel efficiency: The official estimate is 22 mpg combined, and the expert test noted 19.9 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2016 Mercedes-Benz Metris trim should I buy?

The 2016 Mercedes-Benz Metris is offered in 1 trim level: Metris.

Here's the short version:

The Metris is the one to buy only if you need its specific mix of passenger space, cargo flexibility, and commercial-minded packaging. It can work well for family use or shuttle duty, but the expert commentary makes clear that you give up amenities and value compared with similarly priced traditional minivans.

The safety-package note matters here: the Active Safety Plus package is the one to look for because it adds the most important driver-assistance features, including parking sensors and blind-spot warning.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Mercedes-Benz Metris?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.

• Deal availability: 30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 65 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.67% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 60% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,916, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Mercedes-Benz Metris's resale value?

The current average of $15,916 sits slightly below last year's $17,053.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right number and keep the van in strong condition, you should be better positioned than someone who pays near the top of the range.

For a future seller, the key is to preserve condition and documentation, because a vehicle like this tends to reward buyers who can verify how it was used and maintained.

Is the 2016 Mercedes-Benz Metris safe?

The 2016 Mercedes-Benz Metris had not been crash tested by the federal government or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety as this review was published.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes Attention Assist, Crosswind Assist, and a load-adaptive stability-control system. Available driver aids include a reversing camera, front and rear parking sensors, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, blind-spot warning, and Active Parking Assist.

A key caveat is that the blind-spot warning system and side-mirror setup were described as imperfect, and the rear parking sensors also produced false alarms in testing.

Should I buy a 2016 Mercedes-Benz Metris or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 60% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.67% compared with last year.
• The 2016 stands out as a commercial-purpose van that still drives with a more polished, responsive character than you might expect.

The bottom line: If you need the Metris’s specific blend of space, driving feel, and commercial utility, the 2016 is a reasonable target. If you are mainly shopping on value, a more price-sensitive path may make more sense, especially if you can live with a different vehicle that offers more equipment for the money.
