How much does the 2016 Mercedes-Benz G-Class cost?

Prices have softened 5.67% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 273 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2016 Mercedes-Benz G-Class a good car?

Yes — 5/5 is a strong user rating for this model year. The 2016 Mercedes-Benz G-Class stands out because it blends military-rooted toughness with unmistakable luxury and presence, and its boxy shape is part of the appeal. It also offers real off-road ability, while still appealing to buyers who care more about style, capability, and status than everyday practicality. With 31.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Mercedes-Benz G-Class reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2016 Mercedes-Benz G-Class is described as generally expensive to own, maintain, and insure, which matters when you think about reliability in the real world. Its appeal comes from character, capability, and luxury rather than low-cost ownership, so you should expect higher running costs even if the truck itself has strong owner appeal. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is budget strain from upkeep rather than a lack of desirability.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Mercedes-Benz G-Class?

At 64.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report on every candidate and prioritize listings with clean records and consistent maintenance documentation. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on signs of prior damage, uneven panel fit, and any evidence of hard use, since this model’s image and off-road capability can attract a wide range of ownership styles. Pay close attention to overall condition, because expensive luxury SUVs can become costly quickly if deferred maintenance or accident repairs are hiding underneath the surface.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Mercedes-Benz G-Class?

This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting deep bargain conditions.

• Deal availability: 31.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 273 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.67% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 64.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $60,209, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Mercedes-Benz G-Class's resale value?

The current average of $62,707 sits slightly below last year's $66,479.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled enough to give you a better entry point than a year ago, which can help if you plan to resell later. Because the model remains distinctive and desirable, well-kept examples should continue to attract attention from buyers who want the G-Class image and capability. If you buy carefully and keep the truck in strong condition, you improve your odds of preserving value over time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Mercedes-Benz G-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 31.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 64.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.67% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the G-Class experience with a softer price than last year and enough inventory to compare options, the 2016 is a sensible place to focus. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may want to widen your search to nearby years and compare condition, history, and asking price closely before deciding.
