How much does the 2016 Mazda CX-5 cost?

Prices are up 3.23% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 1,554 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of used CX-5s to compare.

Is the 2016 Mazda CX-5 a good car?

Yes — the 2016 Mazda CX-5 earns a 4.7/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction.

Owners consistently praise its blend of performance, comfort, and value for money, along with solid handling, good gas mileage, and useful safety features. That fits especially well if you want a compact SUV that feels more engaging to drive than many rivals while still covering everyday family and commuting duties.

With 31.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Mazda CX-5 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a dependable ownership experience for many drivers, with repeated praise for comfort, value, and trouble-free day-to-day use. At the same time, some owners noted minor infotainment glitches, so used buyers should pay close attention to how the electronics behave during a test drive.

For long-term ownership, the main risk is choosing a poorly maintained example, so a careful inspection matters more than chasing the lowest price.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Mazda CX-5?

At 57.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any reported damage was repaired properly. Then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, with extra attention to the engine, electrical system, brakes, and infotainment behavior.

Because some owners also mentioned missing cargo-area equipment and minor tech issues, focus on overall condition and how well the car’s features work in real use.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Mazda CX-5?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,554 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 3.23% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 57.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,056, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Mazda CX-5's resale value?

The current average of $14,072 sits slightly above last year's $13,632.

That upward move suggests the CX-5 has held demand well enough to support used values. If you buy carefully and keep the vehicle in good condition, you should have a reasonable chance of preserving a healthy share of your purchase price.

Strong owner satisfaction also helps keep interest steady in the used market, especially for shoppers who want a compact SUV with a more engaging driving feel.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Mazda CX-5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 57.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 3.23% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $12,197, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $14,072 average.
• It emphasizes lively driving feel and strong fuel economy.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $15,990, the 2017 costs more than the current year's $14,072 average.
• It adds a more refined, upscale feel with broader appeal.

The bottom line: The 2016 is the best fit if you want a well-liked CX-5 with strong owner satisfaction and a reasonable market position. If price is your top priority, the 2015 is the better value play; if you want a more polished feel and can spend more, the 2017 is worth a look.
